Having been won over by the thought-provoking themes and imaginative blending of reality and fantasy in Beastars, it’s no surprise that another one of her masterpieces is being given the animated treatment.
Paru Itagaki gained widespread recognition through her “Beastars” manga series, which has been lauded for its thoughtful portrayal of real-world themes blended with captivating fantastical elements. This work also received an anime adaptation that garnered significant praise from critics.
Following the triumph of Beastars, it’s no wonder another manga by Paru Itagaki is being transformed into an anime series. This exciting development is sure to delight fans eager for more of her work to be brought to life as an anime series.

Previously mentioned, I’ve noticed that the upcoming anime is to be brought to life by the creative minds at Science Saru. This innovative studio has a rich history of working on captivating series such as Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and the intriguing Dandadan.
So far, only two cast members have been revealed.

Pary Itagaki’s Sanda Could Be Her Next Major Hit
Written by Paru Itagaki, the serialization of “Sanda” started in Weekly Shonen Champion magazine in July 2021. By July 2024, it had published a total of 100 chapters and is now compiled into 16 volumes. The exact sales figures for “Sanda” are not clear, but they’re estimated to be around 1-2 million copies sold. With the upcoming release of the anime adaptation, it’s expected that the manga will see an increase in sales and potentially move even more copies.
In December 2024, Paru Itagaki’s Beastars anime began its final season’s first part. Similar to many anime series, the last season of Beastars will be divided into two parts, or “cours.” Some viewers find the wait for additional episodes challenging, but this format enables the production studio to deliver higher-quality content. As of now, the release date for the second part has yet to be announced, though it is expected to air in 2025.
Starting in September 2016 and continuing until October 2020, the Beastars manga was published weekly in Champion Shonen magazine. The series has seen significant success in terms of sales, with a recent update revealing that it has sold more than 7.5 million copies.
Beastars is available to stream on Netflix.
