Most OP Isekai Anime MC Of 2024

As a seasoned connoisseur of isekai anime, I must say that the year 2024 has truly outdone itself when it comes to overpowered protagonists. Among the plethora of characters gracing our screens this year, three in particular have caught my eye and left me utterly astounded by their sheer might.

2024 is almost behind us, and it certainly didn’t skimp on one thing: anime series featuring powerful protagonists in the “isekai” genre. In every season, we saw several shows fitting this description, and there’s no sign that this trend will slow down in 2025. Characters with overwhelming power have become so commonplace in these stories that those which don’t follow this path often stand out as surprising and invigorating.

As a fellow enthusiast, let me clarify this: The allure of a classic power fantasy is undeniable, and isekai anime serve as an ideal retreat from the real world. There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching an “everyday” character obliterate entire kingdoms effortlessly. And if you’re like me, eagerly anticipating the best, the most overpowered isekai anime protagonists of 2024 will not disappoint!

We’ll evaluate each character’s abilities comparatively, but also factor in how overpowering they are within their respective fictional realms (their level of dominance or influence).

Honorable Mentions

2024 saw an abundance of Overpowered Isekai (In another world) protagonists in anime, warranting brief acknowledgment of some standout characters whose series are must-sees for those yearning for power-driven tales.

  • Hajime (Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest Season 3)
  • Veltol (Demon Lord 2099)
  • Ike (The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army Was a Human)
  • Shin (The New Gate)
  • Rou (Re:Monster)
  • Makoto (Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- Season 2)
  • Soujirou (Ishura)

5. Touka Mimori (Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells)

Do Not Underestimate Status Effects, Especially When They Are Fueled By Revenge

A band of pupils are called upon to assume heroic roles at the capricious behest of a deity, each receiving unique talents. Regrettably, Touka finds himself in a disadvantageous position as his power lies solely in casting status spells such as poison and paralysis, yet their accuracy leaves much to be desired. The goddess decrees that he should perish within the depths of a dungeon, whereas the other students venture forth to augment their might.

Despite overlooking a crucial aspect, the goddess didn’t understand that Touka’s spells were always successful: In a world where it was assumed monsters and humans were impervious to status effects, they were ill-equipped to handle Touka’s abilities, enabling him to eliminate potent threats and rapidly advance in levels. Meanwhile, Touka’s classmates are barely reaching level 30, whereas he is approaching level 2000.

The hero of the “Failure Frame” alternative universe isn’t hesitant to employ underhanded tactics, including deceiving and brutally slaying other heroes who, in his view, are undeserving of mercy. However, Touka is not without her own flaws.

4. Rimuru (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 3)

Rising From A Lowly Slime To A Demon Lord (And More Is Still To Come)

2024 marked the airing of the third season for “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime,” with a significant shift in focus towards the political landscape of The Central World. Unlike previous seasons, there was less emphasis on combat and more on dialogue, world-building, and strategic meetings. This change was evident as Rimuru, one of the most powerful characters in this universe, was kept away from the battlefield for much of the season. Given that even Tempest’s Guardian Lords would struggle against many characters in this world, it was sensible to keep the beloved Slime out of harm’s way and allow him to focus on diplomacy instead.

For around 50 episodes, Rimuru has been amassing power, with his unique ability to absorb granting him new skills continually. At the end of season 2, Rimuru defeats a Demon Lord, assuming its position; this transformation even escalates him into a Demon Slime. Two of his most notable traits are versatility and an extensive skillset, but his Ultimate Skills, such as the remarkably useful Raphael – a supercomputer capable of analyzing situations and offering swift solutions – stand out as his greatest weapons. Beelzebub is equally formidable, and although Rimuru is strong, he coexists with other Demon Lords who are equally or even more powerful.

3. Yumiella Dolkness (Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I’m Not the Demon Lord)

She Creates A Black Hole Like It Is Nothing

In the past, Yumiella might have been somewhat feeble, however, that depiction doesn’t appear in the anime. Instead, Yumiella finds herself reborn as the hidden final boss character of a romance game. To maintain her secrecy and prepare for potential threats, she must stay under the radar while readying defenses for herself. Additionally, she will offer assistance to the heroes if they encounter difficulties during the apocalyptic events throughout the narrative. Consequently, Yumiella dedicates her youth to mastering magic and honing her skills in a dungeon, eventually transforming into an unrivaled mistress of the dark arts who is utterly shattered by the time she enters school and encounters the game’s supposed hero.

In the universe of “Villainess Level 99”, Yumiella’s strength is considered the maximum possible, with only a single weakness – her susceptibility to light magic. However, her mastery over dark magic is so immense that it borders on the absurd, as she can generate a black hole merely to showcase her powers. If she chose to do so, she potentially possesses the power to annihilate her entire world, and there’s no one capable of hindering her.

2. Flio (Chillin’ in Another World With Level 2 Super Cheat Powers)

Infinite Stats

In about half of its initial episode, Banaza/Flio is among the least powerful isekai anime protagonists from 2024; but, following his level-up, he uncovers the divine power bestowed upon him during his summoning to become a hero for a kingdom. At level 2, Flio’s abilities are essentially limitless, making him resemble a god that no one or nothing can confront. Despite not fully understanding his newfound capabilities, he overcomes Fenrys – a member of the Dark One’s Four Heavenly Kings and a fearsome demon capable of defeating many opponents. Additionally, she develops a relationship with him that leans towards being a wife-like figure, though it might not be officially recognized as such.

Unlike many other isekai anime from 2024 featuring overpowered main characters, the series “Chillin’ in Another World With Level 2 Super Cheat Powers” deviates from this pattern by centering around a more laid-back narrative that eschews action-packed scenes. The protagonist, Flio, strives for a tranquil existence alongside Fenrys and a circle of allies who appreciate him without forming a harem. Although he demonstrates his power occasionally, he generally resists displaying it unless provoked.

1. Yogiri Takatou (My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me!)

2024’s Strongest Isekai Anime Protagonist And It Is Not A Contest

Discussing the fact that many isekai anime have protagonists capable of defeating entire armies singlehandedly makes it challenging to determine the most powerful character, as they all exhibit different degrees of extraordinary abilities. However, this year’s competition turned out to be inconclusive due to Yogiri Takatou, who stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of power. To put it plainly, he had the potential to effortlessly eliminate characters like Flio, Yumiella, Rimuru, and Touka without even moving a muscle or exerting any effort.

In a humorous twist, the story portrays Yogiri’s incredible ability as a cosmic horror entity, which is reminiscent of an overpowered character from the isekai genre. This power, known as his Instant Death Ability, allows him to eliminate any being with mere thought. Unlike the Death Note, Yogiri’s power comes without any limitations, and he can do so even when he’s not physically near his target. In fact, an accidental use of this ability resulted in the elimination of a Demon Lord-like figure.
