Best Team Comps With Namor
As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent battling it out in the Marvel’s Mega Battle Arena, I can confidently say that Namor, the Sub-Mariner, is one of the most intriguing characters to grace our digital battlefields. Now, let me tell you a little story about my first time teaming up with this aquatic titan.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve found myself immersed in Marvel Rivals, a game that caters to both seasoned gamers and newbies alike. For those just starting out, Namor, the Atlantean prince, is an ideal choice with a formidable set of skills at your disposal.
From deadly trident attacks to cute but deadly octopus turrets, Namor brings a lot of offensive power to the battlefield.
With proper play, he can swiftly set up tanks, handle pesky duelists, and rack up multiple MVP awards. To help you make the most of Namor’s abilities, here is a comprehensive guide on how to maximize his potential.
Namor Abilities Overview
Namor is an excellent choice for beginners due to his user-friendly nature, as his abilities aren’t overly complicated. His kit is designed in a way that, when utilized effectively, contributes significantly to the team’s success.
With that said, knowing their abilities and what they do is still important, so here is a quick overview of Namor’s abilities.
Abilities | Description |
---|---|
Trident of Neptune | Primary Fire. A projectile-based trident that deals damage. |
Aquatic Dominion | Summon an octopus that automatically targets and deals damage to nearby enemies. The octopus will target the enemy hit by your Tridents with an increased fire rate. You can have two octopuses at once. Hitting your shots decreases the cooldown on the octopuses. |
Blessings Of The Deep | Cover yourself in a bubble of impenetrable water while ascending upwards. |
Wraith of the Seven Seas | A secondary trident that deals more damage and makes your octopuses enter a raging state, dealing enormous damage to the enemy hit. |
Descend | Hold Jump to glide. |
Horn of Proteus (Ultimate) | Summon a giant whale to leap onto enemies, and disable their mobility(if they survive) |
Namor Offensive Strategies
Among the characters, Namor stands out as an excellent choice for inflicting damage from afar. His towers swiftly deplete enemy health, while his trident attacks carry a significant impact. With careful utilization of his abilities, you can cause substantial harm to the opposing team.
Here are some tips to make Namor a menace on the battlefield.
- Always Have Your Turrets Out: Your turrets, although strong, only last for about 8 seconds (if they are not destroyed), but they don’t have a long cooldown. Just be aware of this and keep putting your turrets out whenever you can.
- Place Your Turrets Tactfully: Where you place your turrets is quite important. If you throw them in the center where all the enemies are, they will get destroyed easily. You will have to be creative and find places where enemies might not notice them. The turrets can stick to roofs and walls, so you can pretty much place them anywhere.
- Don’t Push Into the Front Lines: Namor is a sniper-like character, and he is much better at dealing damage from a distance. Plus, Namor does not have the sustainability or mobility to fight on the front lines. You are better off staying in the backlines and damaging enemies with your Tridents and Turrets.
- Use Your Right Click After Putting Down the Turret: Your right click is a stronger version of the normal fire that deals a lot of damage. However, it has another great effect. When you use your right-click on an enemy, your turrets gain little damage and fire rate buff. So, always have your turrets out before throwing the right-click trident.
- Play From Off-Angles: Try to find angles where enemies have a difficult time reaching or spotting you. Your tridents don’t have damage falloff, so if you hit your shots, you can pretty much play from anywhere. You can use your “ability” to get to vertical points too.
Since both the initial shot and the right-click option involve projectiles, it’s necessary to anticipate your targets by adjusting your aim ahead of time in order to hit them accurately.
Namor Defensive Strategies
Namor has high offensive capabilities, yet lacks significant defensive tools. Therefore, it’s essential to think creatively about your movements and positions to survive effectively.
Here’s a strategy to simplify defending with Namor, even though he doesn’t have self-healing or high mobility options.
- Stay Close To Your Healer: Because you are mostly going to be playing from the backlines, you can stay with your healer. It not only allows you to get healed easier, but you also act as a protector for your healer, saving them from being targeted.
- Use “Ability” To Escape: Your “Ability” basically creates an impenetrable bubble of water around you. Sure, it doesn’t heal you, but it might buy you a few seconds to get out or have your teammate cover for you. You can also get healed by your healer when you are in your bubble, which is also why you should stay with them.
- Have Your Turrets Near You: The best offense is the best defense—your turrets can save you from dive duelists. Most dive duelists rely on combos and movement to get kills, making it hard to hit your shots on them. Your turrets auto-aim on opponents, so if you are near your turrets they can help you win the fight.
- Use Your Ultimate Right: Your ultimate while dangerous has limited range. Always try to use your Ultimate in choke points or to finish off weakened enemies. You can also use it to push enemies away from the objective. I usually use my ultimate to target healers, as it usually results in the enemy team losing momentum.
Namor Team Up Abilities
Ability | Heroes Required | Description |
---|---|---|
Frozen Spawn | Luna Snow | Grants an extra ice turret to Namor that damages and slows enemies. |
In a team scenario, Namor doesn’t contribute significantly with his team-up abilities compared to other heroes. Yet, he gains an impressive skill called Frozen Spawn when paired with Luna Snow.
Adding an additional ice turret amplifies Namor’s destructive potential even further. This extra turret not only inflicts damage on adversaries but also slows them, giving both you and the remaining two turrets ample opportunity to pummel them with relentless assaults.
Apart from that, three turrets together can effortlessly destroy a tank. In simpler terms, when you’re playing Namor, ask one of your teammates to take on the role of Luna Snow.
Namor Counters and How to Deal With Them
Namor’s chief dangers are agile combatants often referred to as dive-duelists. This group encompasses characters such as Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Black Panther, and Wolverine – individuals who possess high mobility and deal significant damage. Given that you’ll primarily be positioned in the backlines, these characters will likely focus their attacks on you.
In this scenario, position your defensive structures nearby and click right on them. Your defensive structures should handle the rest for you. Many aggressive players are powerful but fragile, so if you aim well and stay calm, you can quickly eliminate them.
In addition to other potential dangers, you could find yourself in the crosshairs of marksmen akin to characters like Hawkeye and Black Widow. Engaging them is an option, but it’s often wiser to avoid being within their field of vision.
In a fight, they possess a more extensive reach compared to you, which makes engaging in a long-distance battle less advisable. If it’s feasible, you might want to consider trying to get closer to them instead.
Best Team Comps With Namor
If you’re thinking about playing Namor, consider adding Luna Snow to your team. The additional turret boosts Namor’s offensive capabilities and is quite beneficial overall. Moreover, Luna Snow is an excellent healer, making her a valuable addition to any team, even without considering the synergy with Namor.
Additionally, Namor synergizes effectively with close combat characters such as Black Panther, Wolverine, and Iron Fist. These figures excel at drawing enemy fire, which enables you to dish out damage from a distance without worry of being focused on yourself. Moreover, a character specializing in long-range duels pairs nicely with one who engages in close combat.
Characters who possess area-of-effect (AOE) damage are effective when paired with Namor, as he doesn’t have such abilities himself. This allows him to compensate for his lack of AOE damage, and characters like Squirrel Girl and Moon Knight are excellent choices in this regard.
You’re free to choose any companion for tanks, and it will function effectively. In the event of enemy fire, both Doctor Strange’s and Magneto’s protective barriers can be beneficial since they can shield you. Moreover, Venom is a viable option due to his ability to distract enemies efficiently.
