As a seasoned film enthusiast with over two decades of gaming and tech experience under my belt, I can confidently say that LG’s UltraGear GX9 series is about to revolutionize the gaming world in a significant way. Having witnessed the evolution of displays from CRTs to flat screens, I must admit that these bendable ultrawide monitors represent a quantum leap in technology and user experience.
The bendable 45-inch OLED model with its dual-mode feature is a game-changer for those who find themselves constantly torn between the advantages of flat and curved screens. Two years ago, I remember being captivated by LG’s DualUp Monitor, and now their latest innovation, the UltraGear 45GX990A Bendable, takes display flexibility to a whole new level.
The ability to transition from completely flat to a 900R curvature is nothing short of extraordinary. No longer will we have to make compromises when choosing between an ultrawide monitor ideal for photo and video editing and one that provides immersive gaming experiences. LG’s latest innovation seems almost too good to be true, and I can hardly wait to get my hands on it.
The other 45-inch 5K2K ultrawide OLED monitor, the UltraGear 45GX950A, is equally impressive, with its fixed 800R curvature and WOLED panel technology promising unparalleled picture quality in a gaming monitor. Add to that the Dual Mode refresh rates and resolutions, and you have a device that caters to a wide range of user needs.
The LG UltraGear 39GX90SA, with its built-in webOS for effortless streaming of movies and TV shows, is the cherry on top of an already impressive lineup.
I’ve been following LG’s progress in the gaming monitor market for years, and I must say that their upcoming UltraGear GX9 series has me more excited than ever before. If these monitors deliver on their promises, they will undoubtedly take center stage at CES 2025 and set a new standard for gaming displays.
In the meantime, I’ll be counting down the days until the official unveiling next week. Who knows, maybe I’ll even manage to sneak in a peek before anyone else! And as always, remember: a monitor that bends to your will is worth waiting for – unless it’s asking you to do your taxes. (Joke)
At the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in January, LG is planning to revolutionize the gaming monitor market with an innovative lineup of three advanced ultrawide monitors from their UltraGear GX9 series. Among these, a standout model features a bendable 45-inch OLED screen, offering stunning 5K2K resolution and a versatile dual-mode functionality that empowers users to focus on either resolution or refresh rates, based on their specific gaming requirements.
Previously, other flexible ultrawide screens have been launched, but it was Corsair who introduced the Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 first. However, LG’s model will be the one with the highest resolution of 5120×2160 among all, which equates to approximately 125 pixels per inch when stretched across a 45-inch screen. This level of detail is more than sufficient for both engaging gaming experiences and productive work tasks.
LG UltraGear 45GX990A: The Monitor That Bends to Your Will
Why choose between flat or curved ultrawide, when you can have both?
Two years ago, LG unveiled the DualUp Monitor, essentially two 28-inch 1440p monitors arranged vertically without a central bezel. The latest advancement is the UltraGear 45GX990A Bendable, which offers an intriguing feature – it can adjust from being completely flat to a 900R curvature. In simpler terms, this monitor no longer forces you to make a choice between a flat ultrawide monitor, perfect for photo and video editing, and a curved ultrawide monitor for an immersive gaming experience. Instead, it allows you to enjoy the benefits of both in one device.
Introduced together with the bendable UltraGear 45GX990A is another 45-inch ultrawide OLED monitor, specifically the UltraGear 45GX950A. These two monitors boast almost identical attributes, with the main distinction being that the 45GX950A comes with a fixed 800R curvature. Both screens utilize LG’s most recent WOLED panel technology, delivering exceptional picture quality in gaming monitors, characterized by true blacks, increased HDR brightness, and vibrant colors.
The forthcoming ultrawide monitors will offer one of my preferred gaming monitor features: Dual Display Mode. The latest UltraGear GX9 series introduces Dual Display Rates and Resolutions to ultrawide screens, enabling you to toggle not just between high resolutions and rapid refresh rates but also between various aspect ratios and screen sizes. Based on your viewing preference, you can adjust the display to a 16:9 aspect ratio or work in a smaller 27-inch window.
Beyond its key aspects, you’ll find a swift 3 microseconds response time, DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C offering 90W of power. It also boasts NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, ensuring it meets the needs for a top-tier gaming monitor. The 45GX950A offers an RGWB subpixel arrangement, which simplifies reading text and numbers for tasks requiring productivity.
Another LG Monitor Gets Smarter With Built-In webOS
Catch up on your favorite movies during your downtime
In the new UltraGear GX9 series, you’ll find the LG UltraGear 39GX90SA as the third monitor. This specific model offers a slightly reduced 39-inch OLED screen, maintaining a resolution of 3440×1440 and a fixed 800R curvature. Despite being smaller than its counterparts, it retains the same expansive 21:9 aspect ratio, delivering a broader viewing angle compared to standard 16:9 monitors. The standout feature is the integrated webOS system, making it simple to stream your preferred films and TV programs.
As a movie critic eagerly anticipating the upcoming cinematic event, I can’t help but feel the buzz surrounding LG’s highly anticipated bendable UltraGear 45GX990A gaming monitor. Although specifics about pricing and availability remain under wraps, we can expect these details to be unveiled during CES 2025 next week (kicking off on the 7th of January). Mark your calendars, fellow gamers; this is one release you won’t want to miss!
