I’ve been playing Call of Duty since its inception, but this is the first time I’ve ever felt like a contestant in a real-life competition. The Pink Guards, VIPs, and Young-hee characters add an extra layer of immersion that makes me feel like I’m right there in the thick of it all.
The Squid Game Event Pass is a fantastic addition, with rewards that make you feel like a true champion. And the best part? It’s free for all players! The Premium Track is also available for those who want to take their game to the next level.
I especially appreciate the changes made to movement and mantling speeds – it’s always great when developers listen to the community and make adjustments that improve gameplay. The Battle Ready Wildcard has been a game-changer, and I’m excited to see how its role evolves in future seasons.
The addition of the Cleaver Melee weapon is also a welcome surprise – it’s always fun to have new toys to play with! In addition to the new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Raven Software has also launched a new patch for Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale game.
In addition to addressing several issues, both Black Ops 6 and Warzone are set to receive fresh content based on Squid Game, the popular Netflix series that is nearing its final season. On January 2, publisher Activision announced details about this extensive partnership through a new blog post. The collaboration will introduce new game modes, operator skins, and a premium event pass for players. Among the three limited-time modes coming to Black Ops 6 as part of this collaboration is Red Light, Green Light, where participants must dash from one end of a field to another within a set time frame. However, they can only move when they hear “green light,” and must freeze whenever they hear “red light”; failing to do so results in elimination.
The most recent update for both “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” and “Warzone” is now active across all compatible devices such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This new version of “Call of Duty” introduces numerous Squid Game-inspired elements, along with a multitude of bug fixes and enhancements to the overall user experience in multiplayer, Zombies, and “Warzone”. Treyarch has boosted all mantle speeds, allowed players to open and close doors while sprinting, and made several UI improvements to the game’s post-action report, among other changes.
With the January 3 Squid Game update, both Warzone and Black Ops 6 are set to introduce an array of fresh cosmetic items and modes. However, this collaboration has stirred some debate. Instead of just offering a plethora of new store bundles and limited-time modes as anticipated, Activision has something additional up their sleeve – a premium event pass for the Squid Game collab. This pass grants access to exclusive rewards such as a Front Man operator skin. Unfortunately, the community seems displeased with this move, criticizing Activision for releasing yet another paid Battle Pass.
As a long-time player of Call of Duty games, I’m always excited for updates and new content, especially when it comes to my favorite game, Black Ops 6. The January 3 update has really caught my attention, as it introduces a new Wildcard called High Roller for the Black Ops 6 players to explore. Having played many games where I had to choose between just three Scorestreaks, I can’t wait to see what it will be like to equip up to four per game with this new Wildcard. It’s definitely going to add a fresh and exciting dynamic to the gameplay. - Red Light, Green Light (NEW)
- Young-hee is watching, so don’t misstep at the wrong time. Get on the pitch in the Red Card stadium and play three rounds of Red Light, Green Light, each two minutes long.
- In Round 1, no one gets a weapon. In Rounds 2 and 3, you can pick up weapons on the ground and eliminate other competitors with melee attacks and Finishing Moves. There’s just one simple rule: When Young-hee says “Green Light,” the fight is on. Move a muscle after she says “Red Light” and you’re toast.
- Pentathlon (NEW)
- Prove that you have what it takes in the long run by competing in a series of Multiplayer modes to find out who reigns supreme! Play Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint along with two new mode variants: Piggy Bank Team Deathmatch and Roulette.
- In Piggy Bank TDM, every elimination adds score to the Mega Piggy Bank; fight for possession of the huge payout when it drops part way through the match.
- In Roulette, one-shot eliminations via the Roulette Handgun award double the points, though with each fired shot there’s a chance it’ll blow up in your hands!
- Prove that you have what it takes in the long run by competing in a series of Multiplayer modes to find out who reigns supreme! Play Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint along with two new mode variants: Piggy Bank Team Deathmatch and Roulette.
- Squid Game Moshpit (NEW)
- Fire up the Squid Game Moshpit including Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint with a twist as players gain access to three important Squid Game-themed features:
- Red Light, Green Light Scorestreak: Is the fight getting too hectic for you? Stop the enemy in their tracks with this Scorestreak that calls “Red Light,” commanding all enemy players to stop moving or risk elimination.
- Piggy Bank: Eliminated players have a chance of dropping a Piggy Bank that awards a small score boost when picked up. For a bigger payday, watch for the Mega Piggy Bank. Every elimination adds additional score to the Mega Piggy Bank, so once it drops, fight for it to acquire all the deposited score within.
- Roulette Handgun: The epitome of high risk, high reward. The Roulette Handgun spawns in the center of the map; grab it to activate a permanent UAV effect while wielding it and land one-shot eliminations against enemies, earning more than double the normal score to help you obtain Scorestreaks more quickly. The catch? Your location will be marked for everyone to see, and every shot has a chance to blow up the weapon, taking you down with it.
- Fire up the Squid Game Moshpit including Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint with a twist as players gain access to three important Squid Game-themed features:

- Addressed an issue where sword damage could be decreased when using the Void Sheath Augment for Aether Shroud.

- Ability procs more frequently while charged.
- Reduced the required kills to charge from 40 to 25.
- Decreased cooldown from 20 to 10 seconds.

- Dead Light, Green Light (NEW)
- Compete in an undead version of the stop-and-go game in Dead Light, Green Light. In the “Green Light” phase, players gain a bonus to earned Essence, so rack up the zombie eliminations. Once “Red Light” is called, Essence is drained from any player who moves, so spend big before this phase or hang tight to avoid throwing away your hard-earned currency. And it doesn’t end there. When the dreaded “Dead Light” phase begins, prepare for a tough fight as a meaner wave of enemies approach.

- Directed Mode
- Directed Mode now available for Citadelle des Morts with unique rewards.

In Season 01, the Battle Ready Wildcard’s power has been clearly demonstrated by consistently supplying Advanced UAVs to collaborative teams. Starting today, we’re making an adjustment that eliminates the UAV and replaces it with a Supply UAV and Utility Box instead. This shift in its function transforms the Battle Ready Wildcard from primarily offering recon advantages over opponents, into a more supportive role that focuses on sustainability.
