6 Fun Remakes We’d Love to See in 2025

As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the remake and remaster culture has been nothing short of a blessing. Games from my childhood that I held close to my heart have found new life, and it’s an amazing feeling. However, there are still a few gems that need to be polished and brought back into the limelight.

In 2025, I am hoping for a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 remake. As a teenager, I spent countless hours mastering the Airport level in THPS3, only to be frustrated by its elusive secrets. A remake would give me another chance to conquer that level once and for all, and maybe even break some bones with the hardest bailouts imaginable (just kidding, or am I?).

Another game on my wishlist is God of War. Before Kratos went all fatherly and grumpy, he was a vengeful Spartan with an army at his back. The original God of War offered a unique hack ‘n’ slash experience that still holds up today. A remake would give me the chance to revisit Kratos’ haunting past, and maybe even find a few hidden treasures along the way.

Lastly, I would love to see Bioshock get the remake treatment. Over 15 years on, I still have nightmares of being served up as a Splicer’s side platter. The original game was a masterpiece in storytelling, horror, FPS innovation, and world-building. A remake would give me another chance to explore the hauntingly beautiful underwater city of Rapture, and maybe even get my hands on a few more Plasmids.

Which remakes are you hoping for in 2025? Are you interested in seeing any of these recommendations? Drop a comment and let’s talk about it! And remember, if life gives you lemons, make lemonade… or maybe just find a way to kill the guy who gave you the lemons.

Having grown up surrounded by the rich history of classic films, video games, and music, I strongly believe that remaking and remastering these cultural gems is essential for preserving our shared heritage for future generations. As someone who has cherished countless relics from the past, I know firsthand how these works can transport us to different times and places, offering a glimpse into our collective past and inspiring creativity.

While there are countless retro treasures that need to be unearthed and restored, I am particularly excited about the 2025 remakes that we have in the pipeline. These reimagined masterpieces would undoubtedly create a stir if they were announced today—I can only imagine what it would feel like to see them brought back to life with modern technology and fresh perspectives! It’s a dream come true for anyone who loves classic media, and I eagerly await the day when these remakes are finally unveiled.

Currently, we find ourselves in a time when aspirations and fantasies seem almost within reach. The long-awaited remake of Final Fantasy 7 has finally arrived, Dead Space has earned its title as the horror game of our generation, making its remake even more exceptional, and the classic Zelda game, Link’s Awakening, has been reintroduced to the spotlight. Every year, we witness a wide array of remakes and remasters, with even more being unveiled.

In simpler terms, our cherished memories and deep-seated passions are being rekindled. Favorite games from the past are getting a second chance to captivate us once more. The year 2025 looks set to be another monumental chapter in gaming history, with some remakes potentially leaving an indelible mark on it.

Best Remakes we Want to See in 2025

These reboots could unexpectedly appear, be officially announced, or debut at the end of the year. Regardless of when it happens, any news about a launch or announcement would be a major victory for us. Developers, if you could turn our dreams into reality, that would be fantastic!

The Simpsons Hit & Run

By 2003, The Simpsons had various types of games at their disposal. It seemed only natural to create a game similar to Grand Theft Auto, right? However, unlike many other Simpsons games, Hit & Run stood out as truly exceptional. Most games in the series didn’t allow us to explore Springfield in depth, but Hit & Run did just that and more. It combined trademarks, catchphrases, collectibles, spy bee cameras, and slapstick violence to create a harmonious open-world Simpsons game. The world is yearning for a remake, so come on now! If we can’t have Hit & Run 2, someone should pick up their Duff beer and make it happen instead!

Burnout Revenge

In the mid-2000s, Criterion Games was setting the gaming world ablaze with their Burnout series. This was top-tier arcade racing, even surpassing Need for Speed: Underground 2 in popularity. We didn’t truly appreciate it until it was no longer around. The defining moment for the series was Burnout 3: Takedown, but once it found its groove, Burnout Revenge amplified the franchise with an extra dose of fast-paced, collision-filled excitement. The introduction of Traffic Checking in Revenge was groundbreaking, and everything about this game is superior.

Resident Evil 5

In simpler terms, “Resident Evil 5” is often seen as the less popular sibling sandwiched between the groundbreaking gameplay of “Resident Evil 4” and the ambitious but challenging “Resident Evil 6.” Despite being underrated, it’s actually quite good. The African setting was a departure from the series’ traditional roots and didn’t sit well with some fans. However, the intense combat against infected enemies, thrilling action sequences, and improved gameplay continued the excellent work started in “Resident Evil 4.” What sets it apart is the co-op mode where you can play as Chris or Sheva. Given that the earlier games have been refreshed, a remake of “Resident Evil 5” seems fitting next.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 & 4

2020’s re-release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 was a heartfelt journey back in time, reminiscent of strong emotions. Grinding rails, hunting for hidden videos, and testing the limits with extreme wipeouts – sounds familiar? The iconic Superman soundtrack by Goldfinger could make even the toughest skater shed a tear. I yearn for that nostalgic rush once again with a remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. I invested countless hours trying to top my high score on the Airport level in Pro Skater 3, and let’s not talk about Zoo – it was brutal! Tony Hawk hints at future Pro Skater games, but we’ll have to wait and see if they’re remakes for 2025 or beyond, or if we’ll just have to keep dreaming.

God of War

Initially, Kratos was a fierce, powerful Spartan with his own army, characterized by his vengeful nature. However, after cooling down, growing a beard, and delaying the naming of his son for some time, he transformed into the Ghost of Sparta as seen in 2005’s God of War. A desperate plea to Ares significantly altered Kratos’ life, and this game delves deep into his troubled past. In contrast to modern games, this title offers unadulterated hack ‘n’ slash gameplay without third-person cameras or jumping restrictions. I recently revisited it, and I can confidently say that its incorporation of puzzles and special abilities makes the original God of War a comprehensive, essential play—and if remade, it would be visually stunning.

Bioshock

Even after 15 years, I’m still haunted by dreams of being presented as a dish for a Splicer. Bioshock was a revolutionary exploration in storytelling, horror, FPS gaming, and world-creation. It defied the norms of typical, linear shooters, instead offering a complete universe to explore – Rapture. With characters like Big Daddies, Little Sisters, an underwater city, unexpected plot twists, it was clearly the product of a creative mind far beyond the ordinary. That visionary is Ken Levine, and his upcoming project Judas appears to be a spiritual sequel to Bioshock. Perhaps it’s time for us to experience one final injection of Plasmid.
