For instance, in the ’90s, Mortal Kombat was a point of contention, followed by Grand Theft Auto in the 2000s and Call of Duty more recently. Given that many strategy games revolve around themes of conquest and supremacy in warfare, it’s understandable that an outsider might misconstrue their content as gratuitous violence rather than fantasy.
