Koyoharu Gotouge’s “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” initially appeared as a manga in “Weekly Shonen Jump” back in 2016 and wrapped up in 2020, covering 23 volumes. The anime version, produced by Ufotable, made its debut in April 2019 and soon gained massive popularity worldwide. Renowned for its stunning visuals, heartfelt narratives, and pulse-pounding action scenes, the series has significantly influenced contemporary shonen anime. Its outstanding achievement, culminating in “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” breaking box office records to become the highest-grossing anime film ever made, cemented its status in anime lore.

2022 saw the debut of the hugely successful indie game Vampire Survivors. This year, it was expanded with the biggest addition yet: Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania.

The movie features numerous nods to the games, some quite obvious like the main character named Steve and the presence of the Nether. However, there are a few subtle references that only dedicated Minecraft enthusiasts might catch in this film version of the video game.
