At the 2025 CES keynote, Sony revealed that they will be transforming two well-known video game series, Helldivers and Horizon Zero Dawn, into feature films.
The movie “Horizon” is currently being made by Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions. Notably, Columbia Pictures was responsible for producing this year’s Uncharted film, while PlayStation Productions is also working on the upcoming Helldivers movie.
No other details about the movies were revealed at the time of the announcement.
Initially released on the PlayStation 4 in 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn was initially slated for a Netflix adaptation, but that plan fell through. Now, plans have shifted towards a live-action film.
Contrarily, Helldivers experienced a surge in popularity following the launch of Helldivers 2 in February 2024. This game broke records by becoming the quickest-selling title on PlayStation, with sales exceeding 12 million units within a span of only 12 weeks.
