At this year’s CES 2025, Lenovo unveiled the Lenovo Legion Go S – the initial portable gaming PC from a third-party manufacturer equipped with SteamOS rather than Windows.
Starting in May, the Lenovo Legion Go S will retail for $499, running on SteamOS. This portable device sports an eight-inch touchscreen with a 16:10 aspect ratio, boasting a smooth refresh rate of 120Hz. Under the hood, you’ll find either the Lenovo-exclusive AMD Ryzen Z2 Go or AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, accompanied by 16GB of memory, 512GB of storage, and a 55.5Whr battery.
Additional features of this device include Wi-Fi 6e compatibility, two USB 4 interfaces, and an MicroSD card slot for additional storage capacity. As for battery life, Lenovo estimates that the Legion Go S can last between 2.5 to 3 hours on a single charge, though this may vary based on the type of gaming being played.
In contrast to its predecessor, the Legion Go, the latest model no longer incorporates a kickstand or detachable controllers similar to those found on the Nintendo Switch. This design change, along with making the device more compact, reduces its weight to about 1.61lbs.
For individuals who favor Microsoft’s operating system, there’ll be a variant of the Lenovo Legion Go S that comes pre-installed with Windows. This version will hit the market this month at a price point of $729.99, boasting 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Just like other Windows devices, Steam can be separately installed on it as an application.
The Windows version comes in white while the SteamOS version comes in black.
