Divinity: Original Sin 2 – How To Get The Ship Moving

After successfully fleeing Fort Joy and shedding your Source collar in Divinity: Original Sin 2, you now find yourself aboard the Elven vessel, Lady Vengeance. Your immediate task is to set sail with this unique ship, but unlike ordinary watercrafts, the Lady Vengeance cannot be steered from the helm. Instead, you must devise an unorthodox method to propel the ship forward.

To gather all essential details about the ship and learn how to control it, you should investigate this vessel thoroughly and converse with different non-player characters (NPCs) and possible allies onboard. Your primary objective is to obtain entry to Magister Dallis’ cabin, where you can read the Ancient Songbook. Once read, sing the song to the ship. If at any point you find yourself struggling to set the ship in motion, this guide will lead you step-by-step and help advance through the chapter.

Investigate Dead Bodies On The Ship

Investigating how to make Lady Vengeance set sail is like solving a mystery with pieces hidden throughout the vessel. Start your investigation by searching the magister and gheist corpses on the deck for valuable insights. One of the deceased magisters carries a Sodden Diary, which contains the key to open a unique cabinet in the ship’s cabin.

You may discover the password for the Stateroom Door by successfully completing a test during your interaction with the north stateroom door.

As a devoted explorer, I’ve discovered that merely unlocking the Portside Stateroom door using the password isn’t enough. To truly engage with this mysterious portal, I found myself in possession of an enigmatic gem – a key piece to this captivating puzzle.

Just beyond the stateroom doors, there lies a magical reflective surface. You can utilize it to modify your character and your companions as needed, without any limits. If you opt to try and gain entry to the second stateroom by requesting the password, you can use this magical mirror to redistribute your ability points, helping you succeed in the subsequent check.

Find The Portside Stateroom Door In The Ship’s Quarters

With the password ready, you can unlock the ship’s private chambers to explore further and encounter objects or characters to engage with. Don’t forget to socialize with the crew members on board when you get the opportunity, perhaps even recruiting suitable allies for your group. To the west lies an unconscious Bishop Alexander, now adorned with a Source collar, while to the east stand two enigmatic doors to other staterooms.

Prior to approaching the Stateroom doors, navigate towards Bishop Alexander for a chat that presents some investigative possibilities. Select the option “Examine carefully his humble attire” to uncover a Mysterious Stone. Store the stone in your inventory, and then travel back westward as far as necessary to interact with the Stateroom door again.

At the Stateroom doors, approach the southern one and it will recognize you due to your possession of the Mysterious Gem. Nevertheless, to open it, a password is needed, which you obtained from reading the Wet Diary earlier. Select the dialogue option that contains “Fortitude” as the password to unlock the door. The stateroom door then lets you in, leading you to Magister Dallis’ cabin where you need to retrieve the next item to advance with the puzzle-solving process.

Apart from the usual features, Dallis’ cabin conceals a secret trapdoor housing two menacing specters and an enigmatic Teleportation Crystal.

Finding The Ancient Empire Songbook To Get The Ship Moving

Upon entering Magister Dallis’ quarters, you’ll find another crucial Non-Player Character, Tarquin. I’d strongly advise having a chat with Dallis and covering all his conversation topics before delving into exploring Dallis’ cozy little cabin. The Ancient Empire Songbook, which is quite conspicuous, rests on a stand right in the center of the room. Reading this book will elicit a comment from your character about the mysterious text it contains.

Before setting sail with your ship, make sure to chat with all non-player characters (NPCs), because once the ship is underway, you’ll no longer be able to interact with these characters or switch companions.

Getting The Ship Moving

After mastering the melody that controls the vessel, make your way back to the ship’s deck and engage with Malady. Inform her about the book you found, and she will then ask you to play the tune for the ship. While on the deck, travel westward across the ship until you reach the dragon statue. Engage with the statue and select the option to perform the song. Lady Vengeance will now recognize you, allowing you to explore more about the ship before embarking on your next adventure in Godwoken, unraveling another mystery.

As soon as the ship sets sail, you will encounter formidable Magisters in a tough fight. Therefore, ensure your team has plenty of allies alongside.
