Transformers: Reactivate Cancelled, Splash Damage To Lay Off Developers

The game development company, Splash Damage, recently declared that their online team-up game, Transformers: Reactivate, has been scrapped approximately two years after its initial announcement. In conjunction with this termination, the studio is also preparing to dismiss a certain amount of team members.

On Wednesday, the studio shared on their social media platform that they will be shifting their focus towards different projects instead.

Today, I regret to inform you that we must announce some challenging news: The project for Transformers: Reactivate has come to an end. Consequently, our team will be reallocating resources to concentrate on other ongoing projects. Regrettably, this transition may impact several positions within the studio, as redundancies might become necessary.

The statement further explains that the decision was not made easily, acknowledging that it’s a challenging period for everyone working at the studio. They express gratitude towards Hasbro for their backing, and proceed to discuss the near-term plans of the studio.

Though it’s agonizing not to take part in the game’s launch, saying farewell to friends and teammates is an even greater sorrow,” they expressed. “Our primary concern now is to assist them during this challenging phase, much like our dedication to nurturing those who will remain with us as we strive to fortify Splash Damage for the future.

2024 had approximately 15,000 jobs in the gaming sector reportedly disappearing. As early as the first eight working days of 2025, at least four job cuts have been confirmed, with Rocksteady Studios and Netmarble F&C among them.
