The unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2 is just around the corner, and eager fans might get a detailed peek at its design thanks to a leaked 360-degree image. Although Nintendo is typically tight-lipped about upcoming releases, there’s been a lot of buzz in the rumor mill. Until the official unveiling, it’s uncertain how accurate recent leaks are, but the latest images of the Switch appear to corroborate many previous rumors.
There’s been quite a flurry of activity regarding the forthcoming Switch 2 in recent days. Allegedly, the official logo for Switch 2 surfaced online, while Genki, an accessory manufacturer, apparently displayed a mock-up of the device at the Consumer Electronics Show. Furthermore, Nintendo Japan has updated its Twitter banner, which could be hinting at an imminent unveiling. As more tidbits of information emerge, some anticipated features seem to be gaining traction.
91mobiles Leaker tweeted four images of the potential Switch 2 on January 9, 2025, offering fans a comprehensive look at the device from various angles. These pictures offer one of the clearest views of the system yet, although it’s not confirmed if they are authentic renders. They align with previous rumors and leaked images, however. A distinctive feature is a small slot on one joy-con side, which coincides with speculation that the Switch 2’s joy-cons will have an optical sensor, enabling them to function like a mouse. It’s also worth mentioning that the magnetic connectors replace the rails from the original Switch joy-cons, allowing the controllers to adhere to the console.
Leaked Renders Showcase Reveal Design Details
These alleged images depict additional buttons on the new model Switch that aren’t found on the original version. One of these extra buttons is positioned beneath the home button on the right joy-con, and there are two more situated near the Z buttons at the back. Previous leaks had already revealed a new button for the Switch 2 as well as a U-shaped stand, both of which can be seen in these latest images. Additionally, it appears that the console will have a USB-C port located on its top. This has been speculated by fans, and it would allow the system to charge or connect to wired accessories while in tabletop mode, an option unavailable with the original Switch.
There seem to be minor discrepancies between the latest renderings and previous rumors, making it uncertain if they are genuine or fan-made interpretations of popular speculations. Some suggest that the Switch 2 might debut in various editions, which could explain these differences. Until Nintendo officially confirms anything, though, fans should approach leaks with a degree of skepticism. We likely won’t have to wait much longer for the company to unveil the console and provide clarity on what we can anticipate.
