2025 is shaping up to be a significant year for the League of Legends community, as it moves towards a structure where each year is divided into three distinct themed seasons. These seasons will not only bring changes to the map and events, but also subtly affect gameplay.

2025’s Season 1 focuses primarily on Noxus, yet it also brings numerous other enhancements and fresh elements to explore. Here are some of the major alterations in League of Legends for the upcoming season that players should be mindful of as they strive to advance early in 2025.

6. A Noxus Themed Season & Map

Noxus Events, Skins, Reworks, & A New Champion

In Season 1, I’m excited to share that the map has been transformed to reflect the imposing image of Noxus. You’ll notice the burnt foliage and intimidating metal turrets, designed to deter any daring attempts. Throughout this season, players can look forward to a series of events themed around Noxus, with enticing rewards such as free loot up for grabs!

In this initial release, we’re delving into the clandestine group governing Noxian affairs, known as Masque of the Black Rose. Additionally, Leblanc, a key character from Arcane, will be getting a facelift to reflect her Noxian heritage and reappearance. Other new elements like Atakhan and Feats of Strength are centered around Noxus too, but they demand a more detailed explanation for their unique features.

5. Atakhan, A New Neutral Objective

Has 2 Different Forms Depending On Action Levels & Can Spawn Top Or Bottom

On Summoner’s Rift, Atakhan is a fresh Epic monster and impartial objective that appears at the 20-minute mark. The appearance of Baron has been moved to 25 minutes. What makes Atakhan unique is that he always materializes in the river, but his specific location is determined by which side – top or bottom – has inflicted more damage and secured more kills by the 14-minute mark when his pit appears.

In a more aggressive version of the game, a character named Ruinous Atakhan will appear, and defeating him multiplies the effect from all Epic monster slays like Dragons and Blood Roses, which award XP and Adaptive Force. When he’s defeated, Blood Roses are dropped. In less action-packed games, players can attempt to bring down Voracious Atakhan, who offers a single resurrection to the base and gives players 40g for every kill they make for the remainder of the game. Given that each buff is potent, teams should definitely aim to challenge this new objective.

4. Nexus Turrets Can Respawn

In the year 2025, one of the significant gameplay alterations introduces a mechanism where Nexus turrets will regenerate after 3 minutes have passed. This update allows teams who find themselves significantly behind and their base demolished to still strive for a more attainable victory by rebuilding their defenses.

Earlier, a losing team faced continuous threats from backdoors and enemy advances, even with their inhibitors respawned, since minions weren’t there to assist them. This made it tough to challenge objectives like Baron and Elder Dragon. However, if they can hold out for three minutes now, they have a stronger opportunity to catch up in the game and fight back effectively.

3. Boot Upgrades Called Feats Of Strength

These Are Rewarded For Getting First Blood, First Tower, & Slaying 3 Epic Monsters

In each game, there’s an exclusive series of boot upgrades only one team can claim, which they can obtain by achieving at least two out of these three feats: securing the first kill (First Blood), destroying the first turret (First Tower), or slaying three powerful monsters like Dragons. The rewards for First Blood and Tower have been replaced with different bonuses.

As I collect this prize, every teammate will see an enhancement to their Tier 2 boots, transforming them into Triumphant ones. For instance, they’ll receive a bonus of +5% Attack Speed for Triumphant Berserker’s Greaves and +5 Armor for Triumphant Plated Steelcaps. Once two Legendary items have been acquired by each player, they can upgrade their boots again, this time for 750 gold. These Tier 3 boots are significantly stronger and provide a late-game incentive to keep early-game combinations competitive.

2. New Runes

Instead of Ghost Poro, Zombie Ward, Eyeball Collection, and Nullifying Orb, we’ve introduced four fresh Minor Runes. Three of these seem incredibly innovative when it comes to enhancing vision within the realm of League of Legends.

Deep Ward increases the longevity and health boost of wards placed in enemy territory.
Sixth Sense automatically identifies and marks nearby wards, with an added reveal feature at level 11, making them easier to destroy.
Grisly Mementos enhances trinket Ability Haste for each enemy takedown, while Axiom Arcanist amplifies ultimate abilities and reduces their cooldown slightly upon takedowns.

1. Multiplayer Practice Tool

Players Can Now Test Out Combos, Interactions, Or Laning With Friends

The Training Grounds, suitable for both seasoned and novice players in League, have been around for quite some time, yet they’ve lacked a significant feature. Recently, though, this tool can accommodate as many as 10 players simultaneously. This means friends can now practice combos, engage in laning matches, or any variety of activities together.

This could equally serve as an advantage for professional teams, allowing them to rehearse end-of-game situations and more. Furthermore, it offers an excellent opportunity to test out all upcoming modifications, not just for the current season, but also those in the future.
