Square Enix recently revealed some features for the upcoming PC version of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” through a new trailer. Originally released on other platforms about a year ago, it appears that the PC edition will be equipped with a variety of enhancements.
In February 2024, the highly-anticipated PS5 exclusive titled Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was launched, quickly becoming one of the year’s top-rated games and a strong contender for Game of the Year. Due to its three-month timed exclusivity period on the PS5, gamers playing on PC and Xbox began expressing significant interest in the game once it ended. Although an immediate release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Xbox seems improbable, Square Enix recently announced that the game will be playable on PC starting January 23, 2025.
A few days after unveiling the PC specifications for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Square Enix has disclosed some unique features for the PC version in a recent video. The game will support resolutions up to 4K and frame rates of 120fps, in addition to boasting “better lighting” and “superior graphics.” While specific enhancements haven’t been specified yet, gamers will need to wait until the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC to learn more. The PC version of the game will also provide three graphic settings: Low, Medium, and High, for players to adjust based on their hardware. Moreover, there’ll be an option to control the number of NPCs displayed on screen, presumably to help manage CPU usage.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC Features List
- Mouse and keyboard support
- DualSense controller support
- Support for up to 4K resolution and 120fps
- Improved lighting and enhanced visuals
- Three adjustable graphical presets – High, Medium, Low
- Option to set the number of NPCs on screen
- Nvidia DLSS
In terms of user input options, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will offer mouse and keyboard support on PC platforms. For those who prefer controllers, the PS5’s DualSense controller is supported, offering haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for an immersive gaming experience. However, it’s worth noting that Nvidia DLSS technology is included in the PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but there’s no mention yet about support for AMD’s FSR suite of upscaling features. As a result, players with AMD graphics cards might experience slightly lower performance when playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but feel the excitement bubbling up inside me after waiting nearly a year for the arrival of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on my PC. The feature-rich experience it promises is intriguing, and I’m eager to see how well this game performs commercially on our platform. Square Enix might not have anticipated the sales pace of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PS5 quite as they expected, but we’ll have to wait and watch if the PC version will meet their expectations when it comes to sales.
