Ubisoft Appoints Advisors to Explore All Company Options

Ubisoft has disclosed that they’ve brought in a team of top-tier consultants to help them consider potential future directions for the company, according to an update shared during a strategic meeting on Thursday.

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that based on strategic reviews initiated by Ubisoft’s Executive Committee a few months ago, they are now taking bold actions to redefine their game studio. The goal? To deliver top-tier gaming experiences, streamline operations for smooth efficiency, and create the maximum value for players like us! This news was recently announced via press release before our call.

During our chat, Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s CEO, mentioned that a team of advisors is going to evaluate and execute several significant strategic and financial options aimed at maximizing value for shareholders. He didn’t disclose who these advisors are, but he did mention that the oversight will be handled by the independent members of Ubisoft’s Board of Directors. As a gamer, I can’t wait to see what changes they bring to my favorite gaming company!

According to Guillemot, he’s optimistic that this choice will help Ubisoft prepare for a more robust future, and he believes there are multiple viable options available for the company’s growth in the upcoming years.

Guillemot remained tight-lipped about the nature of these paths. When asked to provide further details, he refused, stating he couldn’t disclose any more information and wouldn’t comment on particular rumors spreading around. However, he did confirm that various possibilities were being investigated.

He mentioned that our discussions might be restricted at this point,” he explained, as he clarified that the procedure had previously commenced with his advisors.

One of the possible avenues mentioned involves Tencent, a Chinese corporation, potentially acquiring the company. The topic of this possibility, along with the company’s potential addition to a U.S. government’s “Chinese Military Blacklist,” was brought up in an interview with Guillemot. As before, Guillemot chose not to address these issues directly.

The news about the company’s status is connected to Ubisoft announcing a further postponement for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. Yves Guillemot explained that this delay was a part of their commitment to enhancing gameplay quality and offering compelling Day-1 experiences.
