Battlestate Games has announced on their social media platforms that they’ve been closely listening to the community feedback regarding Escape from Tarkov. As a result, they’ve decided to extend the lockdown on the Flea Market for another five days. Originally scheduled to reopen following December’s wipe, it will now be accessible to all users on January 14.
Some players found this recent move by the Escape from Tarkov developer particularly unusual, as it involved locking down the Flea Market and temporarily restricting the game’s player-to-player economy for a few weeks. Additionally, the studio introduced a rule that disallowed the use of non-FIR items for upgrading the hideout, which was widely perceived as another significant error.
A Little While Longer
On social media, Battlestate Games wrote:
Based on ongoing feedback from our community, we’ve chosen to prolong the lockdown of Flea Market for an additional 5 days, ending on January 14 at 3 PM GMT or 10 AM EST.
1. “We appreciate your active participation in providing feedback and reporting issues. Over the next few days, we’ll be focusing on technical solutions and balance adjustments.”
2. “Thank you for actively sharing your feedback and reporting issues. We are working on fixing technical problems and making balance changes during the upcoming days.”
3. “Your active involvement in providing feedback and reporting issues is greatly appreciated. In the coming days, we will be focusing on resolving technical glitches and adjusting balances.”
4. “We’re grateful for your active contributions of feedback and issue reports. Over the next few days, our team will concentrate on fixing technical issues and making balance changes.”
5. “We value your active participation in sharing feedback and reporting issues. In the coming days, we will be addressing technical fixes and balance adjustments.”
6. “Thank you for your active role in providing feedback and reporting issues. Our team is currently working on fixing technical problems and making balance changes over the next few days.”
Critics swiftly voiced their disapproval upon the announcement, with numerous individuals expressing doubts about which audience the team was attuned to, since ‘it seems no one desires this’. Notably, even Pestily, the game’s leading content creator, expressed his dissatisfaction by saying:
It’s fine with me whether it’s one way or the other, but I’m curious about where the community feedback was gathered. It would have been ideal if an in-game survey had been used to collect opinions from active players instead.
For proficient and gifted players, the absence of a Flea Market introduces a greater degree of difficulty within the game, whereas less frequent players may find it overwhelming. Those with limited playtime often feel constrained. Typically, when they reach level 15, they use the Flea Market to expand their hideout, but this is no longer an option due to two primary reasons.
