It was announced in December 2023 that Blundell would be taking charge of a PlayStation studio, and later whispers hinted at him teaming up with Bungie to create a fresh action game set in a science fiction universe.

According to users who shared a job posting found on the PlayStation website (Restera), the following details were provided:
Located in the heart of Los Angeles, we’re a freshly formed AAA studio led by veterans from the gaming industry and skilled game developers.
Our goal is to develop an exceptional, original AAA game that pushes boundaries, all while streamlining the creation process for maximum efficiency. We’re looking for like-minded individuals with a passion for our vision, ready to embark on this exciting adventure with us.
The list makes no reference to a specific game or any identifying details about the studio, yet it strongly hints at being connected to Jason Blundell’s team.
Blundell has enjoyed a remarkable career, marked by his advancement through prestigious positions at Treyarch during Call of Duty’s most prominent periods. He significantly contributed to the success and widespread appeal of the Zombies system within the franchise, but in February 2020, he chose to leave the company to establish Deviation Games.
Deviation would later be shut down before it could ship a single game.
There have been whispers for some time now that ex-employees from Deviation Games might join a new studio supported by Sony, with Jason Blundell as its leader, and it seems this speculation may finally become reality.
