For any PC gaming enthusiast, a high-quality mouse is indispensable. It’s not just about speed and responsiveness, or aesthetics that complement your setup, or programmable buttons, or a comfortable grip. Instead, you require a mouse that combines these features while being affordable. At approximately £50 (current price), the ALOGIC Apex Bluetooth Mouse fits the bill perfectly – even surpassing some competitors due to its user-friendly design.
This mouse is surprisingly spacious compared to typical mouse sizes, yet it manages to slide comfortably beneath my large hand due to its slightly unusual shape. At 93 grams, it has a satisfying weight that isn’t too heavy or light. I’ve been using the Logitech G309 Lightspeed mouse for six months now, but when I connected the Apex for the first time, I found myself reluctant to part with it on my desk so quickly.
As an enthusiastic user, I’m thrilled about this seven-button mouse! It’s got the essential left and right clickers, a central scroll wheel, another one on the left side, a DPI switch at the back, and two customizable buttons above the left scroll wheel. Just like any gaming mouse, you can tailor its functions using the ALOGIC software, whether it’s for Windows or Mac systems, by setting up macros and shortcuts to optimize its performance.
As a gamer myself, let me tell you about the Apex – it’s got some nifty ways to connect. You can go wireless using Bluetooth or connect directly to a local network at 2.4GHz. If you’re the kind of person who juggles devices (like I used to), you’ll appreciate that you can pair it with two different gadgets simultaneously via Bluetooth, though I haven’t found a need for that feature yet. One thing to note is that you can’t use it when connected via USB-C; the cable is only for charging. But once it’s fully charged, you’re looking at an astounding 100 hours of gameplay before needing another charge, which is mind-blowing! After dealing with mice that seemed to die on me constantly, this feature is a breath of fresh air.
The ALOGIC Apex mouse may not be flashy or attention-grabbing, but it’s far from basic. It features a single band of white light under its heel that can be turned off, kept steady, or set to pulse. With the Apex Control app, you can customize the pulsing speed and brightness to your preference. Furthermore, this mouse lets you choose from four different dpi presets, ranging from 400 to an impressive 6400 dpi. This high speed is especially effective when used with its Bluetooth connectivity.
The ALOGIC Apex software might be minimalistic, but it performs effectively as required. Its simplicity aligns well with the no-nonsense design of the Apex, while maintaining excellent construction and functionality. To put it simply, the ALOGIC Apex is an exceptional mouse for gaming or everyday use. It’s one of the most comfortable mice I’ve tried, and its outstanding battery life and diverse DPI options are notable advantages. Considering its price point of slightly more than £50, this high-quality gaming mouse offers good value.
