Throughout his numerous adventures, Leon has undeniably made quite a few adversaries. However, there have been a select group who have developed an extreme animosity towards him – either because he thwarted their plans or humiliated them in some way.
To put it plainly, there are quite a few individuals who aren’t fond of Leon, some even harboring intense dislike for the beloved protagonist in the Resident Evil series. Delving into the games, films, and other related content can provide insights as to why these characters detest Leon so deeply, and how they have attempted to eliminate him.
1. Jack Krauser
The Events Of Operation Javier Warped Krauser’s Mind And Caused Him To View Leon As An Enemy
Previously, Krauser and Leon shared a strong bond, but their friendship crumbled following Operation Javier. This event sparked Krauser’s growing resentment towards Leon, fueled by his perceived strength and high rank. As a result, Krauser chose to sever ties with the US government and operate independently. The emotional toll of the situation left a deep mark on Krauser, leading him to harbor a desire for revenge against Leon, whom he views as an obedient tool of the government.
In the course of Operation Javier, Krauser found himself doubting everything, even his bond with Leon, as he became consumed with the desire for greater power. His ultimate goal was to one day overpower the “pretty boy” permanently. However, in the end, Krauser’s hatred took control, leading him to undergo a destructive transformation before being vanquished by his former ally.
2. Dylan Blake
Dylan Shows His True Feelings Toward Leon, A Fellow Raccoon City Survivor, During The Story Of Death Island
- First Appearance: Resident Evil Death Island
In the aftermath of the Raccoon City tragedy, many survivors were deeply affected, among them being Dylan Blake. His squad leader instructed him to fatally shoot his infected comrades, an order that left a lasting impact on Dylan. This traumatic experience led him to question the very idea of justice in the world. Throughout the story of Resident Evil: Death Island, he repeatedly conveys this disillusionment, such as when he confines the main characters within a prison cell.
In the given scene, Blake ridicules Leon’s unwavering allegiance to the government, suggesting that it may hinder Leon from dispensing genuine justice, as hinted at the finale of the Infinite Darkness TV series. Furthermore, it is suggested that Dylan holds a grudge against Leon because Leon managed to survive Raccoon City and move forward, whereas Dylan was left disillusioned by the whole ordeal.
3. Greg Glenn
Greg Couldn’t Stand Leon’s Effortlessly Cool And Calculated Persona
- First Appearance: Resident Evil Degeneration
In the movie “Resident Evil: Degeneration”, Greg Glenn appears as a part of the Special Response Team alongside Angela. Early in the storyline, which falls within the series’ continuity, the team encounters a fresh recruit named Leon who will aid them on their adventure.
It’s not an understatement that Greg doesn’t particularly like Leon. After disregarding Leon’s warnings and blasting a crowd of zombies, Greg yells at Leon as if he’d just taught him something, only for a zombie to then attack him moments later. In essence, Greg resents Leon’s cool and collected demeanor, but it appears that the feeling is reciprocated, as Leon frequently criticizes Greg and even jabs him in the stomach when Greg tries to restrain him.
4. Derek C. Simmons
Derek Would Come To Hate Leon For Ruining His Plans And For His Close Relationship With Ada
At the outset of “Resident Evil 6”, once Leon fires upon the zombified president, it’s unveiled that Derek Simmons, previously known as the National Security Advisor, had been orchestrating these events from behind the scenes all along. Throughout the game, it seems as though Simmons is manipulating both Leon and Helena, until they eventually track him down and compel him to metamorphose into a monstrous B.O.W. creature.
During the final showdown, it becomes glaringly evident that Simmons harbors intense animosity towards Leon, the individual who thwarted his grand scheme and stood as the ultimate obstacle to his continued existence. It’s noteworthy that Leon’s fluctuating connection with Ada Wong added fuel to Simmons’ resentment, given his unrequited infatuation with the elusive spy.
5. Maria Gomez
After Believing That Leon Killed Her Father, Maria Would Develop A Burning Hatred For The Special Agent
- First Appearance: Resident Evil Vendetta
In the digital film “Resident Evil: Vendetta” and “Resident Evil: Death Island”, Maria makes an appearance. In the former, she and her father are faithful aides to the ruthless arms dealer, Glenn Arias. However, after a confrontation between the heroes and Arias leads to her father’s death, she swiftly accuses Leon and holds a deep-seated grudge against him for taking away the one thing she deeply cherished in life.
Towards the end of “Death Island”, there’s a fierce close-combat encounter between the two characters, with Maria appearing to have the upper hand initially. However, Leon manages to dodge a fatal blow and ultimately ends Maria’s life permanently. Although Leon isn’t responsible for Maria’s father’s death, it seems plausible that she held him accountable, given his status as the most likely scapegoat in her grief.
6. Ramon Salazar
Salazar Came to Despise Leon For Wreaking Havoc Across His Castle
At first, Salazar struts around confidently when Leon arrives at his castle, but as the latter disarms multiple traps and defeats his guards without much struggle, Salazar grows increasingly agitated. In the original Resident Evil 4, there are scenes where Salazar is seen pacing angrily and waving his arms while loudly berating Leon for making quick work of him.
Besides frequently communicating with Leon via radio, Salazar found himself consistently outmatched by Leon’s wit, which often led him to lose his temper and yell into the microphone like a petulant child. Despite his efforts to conceal his animosity towards Leon, it usually overwhelmed him, resulting in an unflattering display of weakness.
