For close to two decades now, the Assassin’s Creed series has been providing gamers with an opportunity to immerse themselves in various historical eras by teaming up with the Assassins as they work towards defeating the malicious Templars. Over time, these games have significantly evolved from the stealth-focused gameplay mechanics cherished by many players, adopting role-playing game (RPG) elements since Assassin’s Creed Origins was released.
In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, gamers assume the character of a Viking warrior as they embark on England’s conquest spanning from 872 to 878 AD. The protagonist, Eivor, unwittingly finds themselves entangled in the struggle between the Assassins and Templars while simultaneously striving to found a Viking clan in England. With the game having been available for more than four years, countless hours have already been invested by players in completing it. As anticipation builds for the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, here are some ways players can add excitement to a replay of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
7. Choose A Different Protagonist
A Different Animus Option Can Freshen Up A Second Playthrough
In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players are initially presented with an intriguing decision: they can influence the storyline by selecting either a male or female protagonist named Eivor. By default, the game allows the Animus to make this choice for them.
During my initial journey, if I opted out of letting the Animus decide my fate, I missed out on the intended storyline. The female Eivor is the main character as we know her, but when I delved into the realms of Asgard and Jotunheim, I became the male version of Eivor, which added an extra layer to the mythical aspects. If I skipped this option during my first playthrough, it’s definitely worth giving it a try in the second one for a richer experience.
6. Focus On Stealth Whenever Possible
Take The Games Back To Their Roots As A Silent Viking Assassin
Once Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was unveiled, the temptation to embody a dominating Viking warrior was hard to resist for numerous gamers. For many, wielding two axes and brutally chopping up foes into pieces became their preferred strategy for finishing the game.
Instead of focusing on stealth in “Assassin’s Creed,” you can also choose to engage enemies directly. While some objectives allow for sneaky, unseen completion, others such as raiding missions are open battles. However, making an effort to complete the game with as much stealth as possible adds an exciting twist to a repeat playthrough.
5. Try Out Different Weapon Types
Switch Things Up By Committing To A Hammer Only
Experimenting with different choices can add excitement to your gaming experience. In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, an array of weapons are at your disposal, such as single-handed and double-handed weapons, archery equipment, and shields. Given the numerous options, it’s understandable that players might overlook certain types of weapons entirely.
In their initial game session, players might have opted to primarily wield single-handed weapons or chosen not to utilize the provided bows. By intentionally selecting a more difficult path and honing their abilities with an alternate weapon category, players can enjoy a fresh, exciting gameplay experience.
4. Play Without The Heads-Up Display
Explore 800’s AD England Without The HUD
Venturing into ninth-century England is a major attraction in ‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’. The game offers vast, verdant landscapes and quaint rural settlements to wander through. Remarkably, the open world of this game is the second largest ever featured in the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ series, surpassed only by ‘Odyssey’. Spanning Norway and England, the map teems with combat opportunities, puzzles to unravel, and historical events to partake in.
Disabling the Head-Up Display (HUD) in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla makes the process of exploring Norway and England more difficult, but it also enhances the game’s immersive quality. The game’s stunning visuals are truly appreciated when you remove all the screen elements, leaving players to experience the challenge of navigating as Eivor in a foreign land, much like a real Viking would.
3. Investing In Different Skills
Players Will Have Focused On Skills To Fit Their First Playthrough
In my enthusiasm as an avid player, let me share that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla offers a whopping 135 unique skills for us to uncover, transforming our character Eivor into an unstoppable warrior! This skill tree branches out into three fascinating realms: melee, stealth, and ranged. By delving deeper into each branch, we can tailor-make Eivor’s abilities to suit our preferred playstyle, creating a one-of-a-kind Viking hero!
If players missed out on the ranged abilities during their initial playthrough in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, they have an opportunity to make Eivor resemble a ninth-century version of Legolas. They can achieve this by focusing on the skill tree that they overlooked during their first gameplay. Although Eivor will be proficient in combat at higher levels, investing in different skills early on can offer a unique gaming experience.
2. Make Different Story Choices
Become A Revered Or Feared Leader
In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players encounter decisions throughout their journey that significantly impact character relationships and eventually determine Eivor’s fate. At first, these choices might appear trivial, yet they can alter the course of the game in unforeseen manners.
As I navigate through the thrilling world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, it’s crucial to keep an eye out for pivotal moments that can significantly alter my journey. These include deciding on Kjotve’s cargo, engaging in battles within Oxenefordscire, and whether or not to challenge Sigurd’s authority as a jarl. Each of these decisions subtly alters how characters engage with Eivor, ultimately leading to different endings in the game.
1. Complete All The Asgard Sections
If Players Neglected The Story Concerning The Gods, It Adds A New Element
In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players can delve into the realm of the divine through a string of visions with Valka the Seeker. During an initial playthrough, you might have been captivated by the happenings spanning Norway and England and neglected to embark on this side quest series.
If you missed out on this experience during your initial gameplay, it’s strongly recommended that you include it in your subsequent playthrough. The sections set in Asgard and Jotunheim will extend the game by a few hours, and you’ll earn an extra five skill points by gathering Ymir’s tear stones. If you haven’t finished the Asgard questline or other related tasks, this is an excellent opportunity to revitalize your second playthrough.
