As a dedicated fan, I’m eagerly looking forward to Marvel Studio’s highly anticipated project, “Avengers: Doomsday.” Yet, two months prior to its production kickoff, the script remains under development.
Marvel’s upcoming film, titled ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ is one of their highly anticipated productions. This new Avengers movie is set to release five years after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in 2019. Although the production for ‘Doomsday’ is slated to start in March, it’s rumored that the script is still being finalized.
Daniel Richtman, a movie insider, recently disclosed some news about the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. According to him, the screenplay is still being worked on by the writers as it’s not yet complete, but they have until March to finalize it. Previously acquired documents suggest that the production of Doomsday will commence in London, United Kingdom in March and continue until August. This update about the script has sparked speculation of a possible delay. A user commented, “With reshoots, potential rewrites, filming, visual effects, editing, test screenings, marketing, and everything else, it’s all supposed to happen within a year for this blockbuster? It might be delayed,” while another asked, “So technically, the film is delayed?” The same user also pointed out that it would be challenging for the team to work on the script during filming and complete post-production within a year. Another online user echoed these sentiments, stating that with so much work still left to do, it’s unlikely they could finish the entire project in just a year.
Besides the supposed setback, the news about it elicited varied reactions from fans. Some were fine with it and even encouraged the writers and crew to take their time and avoid rushing the project for a superior end result. A few expressed frustration over the script’s progress but remained optimistic since they felt that a polished script could lead to a more compelling narrative. “As March deadline nears, let’s keep our fingers crossed for a blockbuster that lives up to its name!” Yashh tweeted.
It’s best if the script for Avengers: Doomsday is completed 3 to 6 months prior to filming, but it seems that isn’t the case as production starts in just two months. This raises valid concerns about possible delays. It’s important to note that Marvel films often experience delays due to script revisions. In fact, Marvel Studios frequently makes script changes during pre-production and even during filming to keep the scripts consistent with the MCU narrative or to incorporate creative feedback.
Marvel often adjusts the release dates of its films. For example, “Captain America: Brave New World” was initially slated for May 3, 2024, but has since been pushed back to Valentine’s Day, 2025. On the other hand, movies like “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” were brought forward by a week in 2018 and 2019 respectively, to minimize the risk of spoilers. As for “Avengers: Doomsday”, it’s currently on track as the screenwriters still have time to complete the script before production starts. Here’s hoping there won’t be any delays, as fans have been eagerly anticipating the next Avengers movies for more than five years now.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
