A supposed picture of what’s claimed to be the Nintendo Switch 2 dock has popped up on the internet, strangely featuring the gadget alongside some polar bears. This latest disclosure originates from the same source that previously leaked multiple alleged glimpses at Nintendo’s upcoming console.

The individual identified as NextHandheld on Reddit and Twitter has been circulating some authentic-looking images of the Switch 2 since December 2024. These images align well with numerous other recent leaks and speculations surrounding the highly anticipated gadget, making them particularly trustworthy.

Moving forward with their leaking endeavors, this emerging leak sensation shared an alleged picture of the Switch 2 dock on Twitter on January 12th. The image portrays the dock embedded in snow, with two polar bears visible in the backdrop. The leaker hinted that they used a background swap with some AI software for the generation of the image. In the past, NextHandheld’s leaks related to the Switch 2 have also shown signs of AI-generated backgrounds, possibly as an attempt to conceal the original settings and reduce the likelihood of Nintendo discovering who is disseminating them.

NextHandheld’s New Leak Matches Prior Rumors About Switch 2 Dock

Regarding the image’s main focus, its layout corresponds to earlier whispers about the gadget. Particularly, it’s rumored that the Switch 2 dock will have a more rounded shape compared to its previous version, as shown in NextHandheld’s snapshot. Furthermore, the device appears to sport an enlarged Nintendo Switch logo with the addition of ‘2’, which aligns with NextHandheld’s past assertion that the upcoming console might be called the Nintendo Switch 2 directly.

Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Dimensions Remain Unclear

Because the AI-generated backdrop in the photo doesn’t provide any benchmark for size, it’s hard to tell how big the new device actually is. However, based on previous leaks, the upcoming Switch 2 is expected to be significantly larger than its predecessor. Measuring approximately 14mm thick and with dimensions of 270 x 116 x 14mm, this device will surpass even the Switch OLED Model, making it the largest handheld Nintendo has ever marketed. Interestingly, despite its increased size, the dock for the new Switch 2 might not be any larger, which could mean more of the device’s screen would be visible when docked compared to the original Switch.

Nintendo has announced twice that they will unveil the successor to the Switch during their fiscal year 2024, which ends on March 31st. It’s been reported that mass production of this new device has already started as early as Q4 2024, with hardware leaks supporting this claim. This suggests that the console might become available for purchase starting from mid-2025.
