The Pokemon Trading Card Game has experienced a sort of rebirth this year, known as the Pokemon TCG Pocket. Following the announcement of its mobile release in early 2024, it was launched towards the end of the same year, specifically in October. What makes Pokemon TCG Pocket stand out is that it prioritizes card collection over battles for a change, unlike many of its features like booster packs, rare finds, and various display options which are usually battle-centric.
With the game releasing towards the end of the year, fans are left wondering what they should anticipate from the mobile version of Pokemon TCG Pocket. Given that it’s a new game, there isn’t much history or consistent patterns established yet to predict the nature of its updates. However, as a mobile title, developers will likely provide fresh content to keep it competitive with other popular apps on players’ phones. Over the next year and beyond, fans can familiarize themselves with the game mechanics, its progression, and potential future developments.
Pokemon TCG Pocket May Have Only Just Begun With Its Events
The Pokemon TCG Pocket app has hosted numerous occasions since its debut, including Chansey Picks during Wonder Pick, short-term missions around special dates like New Year’s, Mass Outbreaks, emblem events, and other similar activities. Although these events have been relatively modest in scale, players have presented a multitude of suggestions for enhancements to the Pokemon TCG Pocket app in the future. The holidays and New Year’s missions were an unanticipated delight from this new mobile game, demonstrating that there is still room for fans to experience unforeseen events.
Looking ahead in Pokémon TCG Pocket, players can anticipate an Articuno and Water-Type Mass Outbreak event, given that Moltres and Zapdos have already had their turn. The current Wonder Pick event appears to be featuring Charmander and Squirtle together as a counterpart to Bulbasaur’s previous prominence months ago. With the game still in its initial cycle of releases, there isn’t much information available yet, but leaks about the game could provide a more detailed schedule for fans who want to catch a glimpse into future events.
What Fans Can Look Forward to According to Pokemon TCG Pocket Leaks
A recent disclosure has unveiled details about the Squirtle and Charmander Wonder Pick event happening ahead of schedule, as well as other exciting events that players can anticipate throughout January. According to the same sources, this Wonder Pick event is expected to dominate most of the month. However, fans should get ready for a fresh start in 2025 with an entirely new expansion arriving at the end of January. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on what February and beyond may bring, so it’s best to stay tuned for official announcements or potential leaks from other Pokemon TCG Pocket channels in the future. For a comprehensive list of upcoming events, check below.
In this version, I’ve aimed to maintain the same meaning while using more conversational language and simpler sentence structures.
- Wonder Pick event (Squirtle and Charmander) Part 2 – January 15 – 22
- Mythical Island emblem 5 consecutive win event – January 20 – 27
- Mew ex and Psychic-Type Mass Outbreak event – January 23 – 29
- Addition of the trade feature – No date yet, but sometime in January.
- Second expansion release – End of January; no concrete date yet.
Expanding Pokemon TCG Pocket in 2025
According to an official announcement from the game creators, trading will debut in the Pokemon TCG Pocket version starting January, with restrictions that will gradually lessen over time. The quick succession of releases for Mythical Island after Genetic Apex suggests a pattern where players won’t have to wait too long between new card releases. It appears that expansions like Genetic Apex might be introduced approximately every four months, and themed booster packs such as Mythical Island will keep things interesting in the meantime.
As a dedicated Pokémon TCG player, I’m excited to share that there’s a steady flow of packs and expansions on the way, though it might take some time to fully grasp the release schedule. For now, take comfort in knowing that we’ll be getting a slew of new cards every year. The mobile game format of Pokémon TCG Pocket is brilliant because it requires constant content updates. This means DeNA can keep adding new Pokémon from each region, eventually catching up to the vast Pokedex. If you’re curious about which beloved critters are still missing, a list detailing the popular creatures yet to be added can be found below.

As a dedicated Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) player, let me tell you, the lengthy list of missing Pokémon is just a hint of what’s yet to come in future expansions and booster packs. This year promises to be an exhilarating one for the card game, and it’s partly due to TCG Pocket consistently adding twice as many cards and content that we’ve been enjoying for quite some time now.
It seems that TCG Pocket will undergo rapid development with the cards from Mythical Island, growing faster than Genetic Apex. This quick pace should keep players engaged for quite some time. Additionally, since DeNA’s release schedule for TCG Pocket events and content remains elusive at the moment, it leaves plenty of room for exciting changes, enhancements, and surprises. As the game unfolds, fans will have a chance to learn about these developments in no time.
