Marvel Studio’s World War Hulk is eagerly awaited by fans. The plot is derived from a well-known comic book with the same title, and for years there have been whispers about its creation. Despite no formal confirmation regarding the alleged MCU film, there are strong indications that it’s underway, with Marvel Studios president contributing to the project as well.
Jordan Ruimy, the head of World of Reel and a Tomatometer-approved critic, recently disclosed some fresh details about the upcoming project, World War Hulk. As per his recent report, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, has reached out to several potential directors, including George Miller, who is renowned for directing films like Happy Feet and the Mad Max series. Although it hasn’t been confirmed if Miller has agreed to take on the project, Ruimy mentioned that Miller had expressed interest in directing Thor 5. It was reportedly Chris Hemsworth who facilitated a meeting between Miller and Feige. The duo previously collaborated on the 2024 film, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Notably, Hemsworth is the main actor in the Thor series and has starred in all four films – Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), and Thor: Love and Thunder.
Previously, during an interview, Miller expressed his views on the ongoing discussion about whether superhero films are considered cinema following Scorsese’s statement that they aren’t. When asked by Deadline, Miller replied, “I watch all of them. To put it simply, cinema is a vast and diverse field, and the true test lies in its impact on the audience.” It’s worth noting that Miller was initially connected to direct ‘Justice League: Mortal’. This project was announced in 2007, featuring an extensive cast including Armie Hammer as ‘Batman’, D.J. Cotrona as ‘Superman’, Adam Brody as ‘The Flash’, and Megan Gale as ‘Wonder Woman’. However, the film was eventually canceled, and Warner Bros. opted for Zack Snyder to direct the 2017 ‘Justice League’. Given Miller’s openness towards superhero movies, he might be interested in Feige’s offer.
Choosing Miller as the director for “World War Hulk” isn’t just based on his love for superhero films, but also because of his proven ability to manage large-scale projects with intricate action sequences and layered storylines, similar to the “Mad Max” franchise. This skillset aligns perfectly with MCU productions, which combine action, humor, emotion, and character-driven plots into a cinematic extravaganza. However, it remains uncertain whether Miller will accept the invitation. If Marvel Studios grants him creative freedom, the offer could prove enticing. The narrative of “World War Hulk” delves deeply into themes such as revenge, redemption, love, and loss, making a talented director essential for its helm. With Ruffalo set to star in his first standalone Marvel movie, fans have been eagerly anticipating this film, so it’s crucial to find the most suitable director to ensure its success.
