In the exciting world of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Hydreigon – a formidable Dark/Dragon-type Pokemon – has shown itself as one of the mightiest creatures. Aspiring trainers would be wise to include it in their Pokedex. To obtain this powerful beast, you should initially catch its pre-evolved forms: Deino and Zweilous first. By nurturing an Irate Deino, you can then evolve it into the formidable Hydreigon. Interestingly, Deino and its evolutions are exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet. To transfer them to Pokemon Violet, alternate methods will be required.
Where to Catch Deino in Pokemon Scarlet
Deino and Zweilous Locations
In the game Pokemon Scarlet, you can find Deino hidden within the Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). While Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two) are more conspicuous and accessible, Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage may be a bit trickier to locate. The Deinos in Dalizapa Passage and Alfornada Cavern are usually level 35-40.
- Alfornada Cavern: This is in the southwest corner of the Paldea map. You’ll need Koraidon’s high jump ability to traverse the cave.
- Dalizapa Passage: You can reach this by heading east from Medali or west from Zapapico. On the map, Dalizapa Passage is the area between Medali and Zapapico.
Besides catching Deino in the wild, you can also obtain it from three-star Tera Raids that become accessible once you’ve earned three gym badges. The Deinos encountered in these raids may possess a distinct Tera Type compared to those found in the normal world, and they might even showcase their Hidden Ability.
You might discover Zweilous, the evolved version of Deino, in the wild at Dalizapa Passage, Area Zero, and Alfornada Cavern. Similarly to Deino, you can obtain Zweilous through Tera Raids as well. Important note: Zweilous appears exclusively in 4-star Tera Raids.
Hydreigon can be caught from 5/6-star Tera Raids.
How to Get Deino in Pokemon Violet
How to Trade and Transfer
As Deino is only available in Pokemon Scarlet through trading or transferring, if you wish to obtain it in Pokemon Violet, you’ll have to either trade with someone else or move it over from another game. If you opt for trading, remember that a Nintendo Switch Online Membership is required to use the Union Circle. Alternatively, if you prefer not to subscribe, you could utilize Pokemon HOME to transfer Deino directly to Pokemon Violet from another compatible game.
To move away from home, you’ll require the Home app on your console. Deino and its evolutions can be moved from Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Scarlet games.
- Open Pokemon HOME, then choose any of the games you have Deino from, and move it to your Basic Box. Then, save and exit.
- While still in HOME, open Pokemon Violet and move Deino from the Basic Box to a PC Box. Save and exit.
How to Evolve Deino into Zweilous and Hydreigon
What Level Does Deino Evolve?
At level 50, Deino transforms into Zweilous, and then at level 64, Zweilous changes into Hydreigon. You can use Deino/Zweilous in auto-battles against large groups of Pokémon to gain experience more quickly. Additionally, you can provide Deino with Experience Candy or Rare Candies for faster growth. It’s best to use Exp. Candy L and Exp. Candy XL due to Deino’s high evolution level.
Is Hydreigon a Good Pokemon?
Hydreigon Stats & Weaknesses
In the game Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Hydreigon is one of the most powerful Pokemon due to its pseudo-legendary status. With a base stat total of 600, it boasts impressive Special Attack and Attack stats, along with decent Speed. This makes it an excellent fit for a Timid nature, which boosts speed while lowering attack, or a Jolly nature, which increases speed but decreases Special Attack.
HP: | 92 |
---|---|
Attack: | 105 |
Special Attack: | 125 |
Defense: | 90 |
Special Defense: | 90 |
Speed: | 98 |
Total: | 600 |
Since Hydreigon is a Dark/Dragon-type, it has the following type effectiveness:
Super-effective against: | Dragon, Ghost, Psychic |
---|---|
Weaknesses: | Fairy (4x), Fighting, Bug, Dragon, Ice |
Resistances: | Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, Dark |
Immunities: | Ground, Psychic |
Thanks to Terastallizing, Hydreigon can now overcome its crippling vulnerability to Fairy-type attacks. Strategically, players can switch its Tera Type to boost the power of potent moves like Flash Cannon. Depending on how it’s utilized, Hydreigon can serve as a formidable physical attacker or a powerful special attacker. The versatility of Hydreigon’s movepool allows you to decide whether to focus on physical or special attacks.
Given that Hydreigon has a significant vulnerability to Fairy-type attacks, it’s crucial to give it a Steel-type move. The move Flash Cannon is the only one it can acquire through a TM. Regrettably, it can’t learn any physical Steel-type moves, so you might want to focus on building a special attacker Hydreigon rather than a physical one. Other suggested moves include Nasty Plot (to boost Special Attack), Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse.
