In the world of Persona 5 Royal, leveling up your characters is as essential as it is in any Role Playing Game (RPG). If players neglect to boost their team’s levels, they may find themselves struggling against challenging end-game bosses and forced to spend extra time enhancing their powers within Mementos. As a revamped version of Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal comes packed with numerous user-friendly improvements and an additional 20 hours of exciting gameplay.
In “Persona 5 Royal,” there’s an additional school term for the Phantom Thieves, along with modifications made to previous enemy encounters. Given the abundance of fresh content, it’s advisable to maintain a strong character level and familiarize yourself with efficient ways to gain experience points.
Accessories and The Moon Arcana
Mishima Yuuki’s Confidant
In the game “Persona 5 Royal,” players can obtain a complimentary DLC from the PlayStation Store to acquire the “Team Glasses” accessory. This item boosts your experience gain by 15% in battles. To activate this bonus, ensure that each character wears the “Team Glasses” as their equipped accessory.
In a battle, when players are limited to utilizing just the Joker and three additional Phantom Thieves, those Phantom Thieves positioned at the rear will receive fewer experience points after the battle concludes.
By promoting the character “Yuuki Mishima” (also known as the Moon Confidant) to ranks 3 and 5, your backup team members will earn experience points. If you decide to reach rank 10 in Yuuki Mishima’s confidant, your backup members will gain the same amount of experience points as those who are actively fighting on the front lines.
Boosting Mishima’s Trust Level can be quite straightforward if players consistently choose the dialogue option that resonates best with him. Additionally, it’s recommended to have a Persona associated with the Moon Arcana on hand when interacting with him.
In the game “Persona 5 Royal”, tasks given by Mishima in the Mementos area are now linked to his Confidant relationship. So, if gamers fail to complete Mishima’s assignments, they will not be able to advance the rank of their Confidant with him.
Mementos: Increase EXP Gain
Cognition of Mementos
In addition to Yoshizawa and Maruki, the game Persona 5 Royal introduced a new character named Jose. While Kasumi and Maruki might have more significant roles in the storyline, Jose can provide valuable assistance during gameplay.
Throughout the deep levels of Mementos, you’ll find “blossoms” and “Stamping Posts.” Gather these elements, as they can be traded with Jose for various items or to alter the nature of Mementos itself. In Jose’s Shop’s Cognition menu, players have the choice to enhance Experience Points (EXP), Monetary Rewards, or Item Rewards, though only within Mementos. Boosting the EXP earned from battles up to 110% will cost 5 Stamps, while elevating it to a maximum of 200% requires 12 Stamps.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve discovered that to fully optimize the Exp Up feature in Persona 5 Royal, you’ll need a total of 85 Stamps scattered throughout the game. These Stamp Stations can be found tucked away in blind alleys on Mementos floors, hidden behind breakable walls. On each new floor in Mementos, there’s a possibility you might bump into Jose.
Fight the Reaper
What Level is the Reaper?
In the world of Persona, the Grim Reaper serves as a formidable recurring foe. If players linger on a floor for an extended period, they may summon this powerful entity in Mementos. The screen then flickers ominously with red hues and chilling sounds of chains fill the air. As a precaution, either Morgana or Futaba will alert Joker of an impending menacing presence.
At the outset of the game, it would be difficult for players to defeat the Reaper if they’re not playing from a New Game+ save file. The Reaper possesses -dyne tier spells and support abilities like Concentrate and elemental Breaks (such as Fire, Wind, Ice, Electric Break).
He’ll reach a significantly advanced level, around 85, boasting exceptionally impressive statistics. His Agility, however, is his weakest attribute at 75. Yet, this should be more than sufficient for him to outrun the Phantom Thieves, provided they aren’t too powerful.
Overcoming the Reaper yields an extraordinary amount of experience points and wealth. It’s highly probable that every character will advance a level upon its defeat.
As a seasoned gamer, I’d suggest taking on the Reaper when you’re level 60 or higher. It’s crucial to have skills that boost your defense and use Makarakarn to deflect the Reaper’s magic. For an extra edge, if you’ve got the Persona DLC with Izanagi-no-Okami (Picaro), stack Concentrate, fire up Heat Riser, and then unleash Myriad Truths for some serious all-around damage, tripled!
Defeat Treasure Demons
How to Summon Treasure Demons
As a passionate enthusiast, I’d like to share an intriguing tidbit about Treasure Demons, unique entities that make their debut in Madarame’s Palace. After our initial encounter, these peculiar Shadows begin to appear in the Metaverse. Unlike the majority of Shadows we typically face, Treasure Demons are benign and will scamper off after a few turns.
Different types of Treasure Demons exhibit unique Vulnerabilities and Resistances, but all are susceptible to Almighty attacks. To ensure their capture rather than their escape, utilize Shinya’s Tier 1 Skill, Down Shot, which renders them vulnerable for an All-Out Attack.
Players also have the option of defeating a Treasure Demon using a powerful critical attack such as Morgana’s Miracle Punch, provided that the Treasure Demon does not nullify Physical attacks.
In grand Palaces, you’ll often find the elusive Treasure Demons. Increase your chances of encountering them by crafting the Infiltration Tool – Treasure Trap. To create this device, you’ll need these specific materials:
- 2x Silk Yarn
- 3x Plant Balm
- 1x Cork Bark
Use Persona with EXP Skills
How to Get Growth Passive Skill
In most cases, any character that Joker doesn’t use in a battle won’t gain Experience Points (EXP). However, if a character possesses the Passive Skill called “Growth”, they will still receive a portion of the EXP earned from the battle, even when not directly involved. There are three kinds of Growth Skills available in the game.
- Growth 1: Persona gains a quarter EXP when inactive.
- Growth 2: Persona gains half EXP when inactive.
- Growth 3: Persona will gain full EXP when inactive.
The following Persona learn Growth when leveling:

Once players gain access to the Velvet Room’s Electric Chair, they can transform their Personas into Skill Cards. However, unlike in Persona 5, not all Personas can convert into Growth 1 or Growth 2 Skill Cards in Persona 5 Royal. The exception is Izanagi Picaro, which will turn into a Growth Skill Card (specifically, a Growth 3 card) when utilized in the Electric Chair.
Growth 1 Skill Card cannot be obtained in P5R.
To acquire the Growth 2 Skill Card, gamers must guide Caroline and Justine to Miura Beach from September 2nd to September 29th. This activity becomes possible once Joker has completed event 6 (Sky Tower). During the evenings, Joker can interact with Justine and Caroline by talking to them near the Velvet Room Door outside of Mementos.
Ryuji Sakamoto’s Confidant
How to Unlock Insta-Kill
The skill called “Insta-kill” does precisely what its name implies: It grants Joker the ability to instantly vanquish a Shadow without requiring a fight. To employ this skill, you must catch the enemy off guard. If Joker’s character level is 10 levels superior to that of the Shadow, they will be swiftly defeated. In the initial version of Persona 5, Insta-kill would only eliminate the shadows. However, in Persona 5 Royal, a successful Insta-kill rewards you with items, money, experience, and (if there’s space) a new Persona.
If you activate Joker’s Third Eye skill, you’ll be able to determine whether a Shadow can be instantly defeated. The ones with a green border around them are vulnerable to an instant kill.
To achieve an Instant-Kill, it’s essential to elevate Ryuji’s Confidant Rank up to Level 7. Luckily, there are no social prerequisites for improving his Confidant, making it one of the simplest to maximize in the game. If you’re after an Instant-Kill right away, spend time with Ryuji and select the most advantageous options to earn the maximum points. It’s advisable to do this before moving on to other Confidants.
