Summary
- Lucky Pokemon in Pokemon GO have benefits such as lower Stardust cost and guaranteed high IVs, making them valuable for competitive players.
- Machamp is a reliable attacker in raids and PvP battles, countering tanky Steel or Rock types.
- Togekiss is a feared matchup for many trainers’ teams, especially against Dragon-types, making it a prime target for making lucky in Pokemon GO.
Niantic’s popular game, “Pokemon GO,” has undergone significant changes since its debut in 2016. Among the many features added to the game, one of the scarcest and most desired is the Lucky Pokemon. Becoming a Lucky Pokemon requires a considerable amount of time investment, as it involves building relationships with other players to boost the chances of traded Pokemon becoming lucky. The only certain method for this is trading with a Lucky Friend, but finding such a friend happens entirely by chance.
For leisurely trainers, owning a Lucky Pokemon is primarily for boasting purposes, yet it offers several perks to serious competitors. A Lucky Pokemon, besides cosmetic alterations, requires significantly less Stardust to enhance and guarantees high Individual Values (IVs). In Gym fights and Raids, this is advantageous, but it truly shines in competitive Player vs. Player (PvP) battles. While any Pokemon can become Lucky, some are more coveted than others.
12. Elgyem
A Psychic-Type Pokémon
In simpler terms, Elgyem is an enigmatic Pokemon belonging to the psychic category, hailing from the Unova region and debuting in the fifth generation of the game. Notably, Elgyem can transform into Beeheeyem, a powerful Pokemon that provides improved stats for players. This particular Pokemon can be found freely in the wild, making it easily accessible for players to catch and enhance their collection.
This Pokemon boasts an array of powerful Psychic-based moves during battles, such as Psybeam and Confusion, which are particularly effective against tougher opponents weak to psychic attacks. Additionally, the Ghost-type move Astonish provides extra defense when facing off against Ghost or Psychic Pokemon, ensuring Elgyem maintains a fighting chance against similar types.
11. Meditite
A Fighting, Psychic-type Pokémon
Originating from the Hoenn region, this Pokemon, known for its fighting and psychic abilities, poses a tough battle prospect in both player versus player (PvP) and player versus environment (PvE) combat. Its moveset includes psychic, fighting, and ice-type attacks. Interestingly, giving Meditite the ability to use Ice Punch can be beneficial when facing opponents resistant to psychic attacks, as it effectively targets ground, grass, and flying-type Pokemon.
From Hoenn region, a Pokemon with fighting and psychic powers is tough in both player vs player and player vs environment fights. It uses psychic, fighting, and ice moves. Giving Meditite Ice Punch can help when opponents are resistant to psychic attacks, as it works well against ground, grass, and flying-type Pokemon.
In its standard version, Meditite can make a fine choice for a lucky Pokemon due to its common availability and ease of trading, which demands less stardust compared to other options. Although Meditite may not be the most powerful Pokemon within the game, its evolution, Medicham, is often recognized as one of the strongest PvP characters, boasting decent overall capabilities in battle.
10. Machamp
A Fighting-type Pokémon
To Pokemon enthusiasts, the progression of Machop, Machoke, and Machamp in their Fighting-type lineage is undoubtedly recognizable, as it was initially presented in the initial games of the series. Over time, Machamp, the final evolution, has consistently proven to be a formidable asset for trainers, with its abilities remaining largely unchanged since its debut.
In the world of Pokemon GO, Machamp is a robust and dependable combatant, capable of taking on a wide range of difficult Raid bosses, particularly those with tank-like characteristics from Steel or Rock types. Even in Player versus Player (PvP) battles, Machamp proves to be a valuable team member, although it may not be the strongest Fighting-type attacker. It can deliver swift and powerful blows, as well as learn useful moves that address its vulnerabilities.
9. Lugia
A Flying Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon
A Generation 2 cover legendary Pokemon like Lugia is a reliable choice for any Pokémon GO player who’s unsure about which Pokemon to power up as ‘Lucky’. Although it may not be ideally suited for attacking Raid Bosses, Lugia stands out in the GO Battle League, particularly in the Master League where there are no CP limitations.
Lugia, with its unique combination of Psychic and Flying types, and an assortment of powerful moves, swiftly defeats numerous high-tier Pokemon in the Master League, including Garchomp and Groudon. Remarkably, even Steel and Electric types, which are typically resistant to Flying-type attacks, can’t withstand Lugia’s signature charge move, Aeroblast, a formidable Flying-type attack capable of inflicting substantial damage.
8. Lucario
A Fighting Steel-type Pokémon
As a devoted gamer immersed in the vibrant world of Pokémon, I can confidently say that Lucario is undeniably one of the franchise’s top-tier characters. In games like Super Smash Bros and even the immersive reality of Pokémon GO, this Steel/Fighting type Pokémon truly shines. When it comes to PvE content, such as Raid battles in GO, if we ignore Shadow and Mega evolutions, Lucario stands tall at the pinnacle of Fighting-types. This is largely thanks to its formidable charge move, Aura Sphere, which packs a punch that’s hard to beat.
Regarding player versus player battles (PvP), it’s true that Lucario is somewhat of a specialized choice, but it truly shines in the Ultra League. This is largely due to its ability to use Shadow Ball, a move that effectively counters Ghost and Dark types, which are prevalent at this competitive level. Lucario makes an excellent addition to any trainer’s team, and when utilized strategically, can serve as a surprising counter to an opponent’s top Pokemon.
7. Kyogre
A Water-type Legendary Pokémon
3rd generation’s legendary Pokemon, Kyogre, ruled the non-Shadow Water-typed throne long before its Primal Reversion was introduced in Pokemon GO. After that introduction, there is no question that Primal Kyogre overpowers other Water-type attackers in terms of raw power, effortlessly defeating Raid bosses weak to Water.
In competitive player versus player matches (PvP), the Master League is where Kyogre truly showcases its strength. Equipped with a quick attack, Waterfall, and a powerful charge move, Surf, this legendary Pokémon can mercilessly pummel opponents, most types (aside from those resistant to Water) struggling to withstand the onslaught.
6. Garchomp
A Ground-type Dragon Pokémon
In simpler terms, Garchomp – a popular Pokemon from Generation 4 – stands out among other Dragon-types due to its unique mixed typing as both a Dragon and Ground creature. While it’s already potent in its Dragon form, it truly shines as an exceptional Ground-type attacker within the game “Pokemon Go”, particularly when equipped with the legacy charge move Earth Power.
In the GO Battle League, it’s the Master League where Garchomp strikes terror, consistently beating numerous high-tier Pokemon in the current strategy (meta). With its strength against various types and vulnerability only towards Fairy and Ice types, Garchomp stands as an excellent choice for trainers who aim to succeed without having to spend a fortune on increasing its Combat Power (CP) to the maximum.
5. Giratina (Altered & Origin Forme)
A Legendary Dragon-type Ghost Pokémon
Regarding the legend of Giratina, it seemed that having just one powerful form wasn’t sufficient for this creature. Its first transformation, known as Altered Forme, made its debut in Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, and its second, Origin Forme, was presented in Pokemon Platinum. In the world of Pokemon GO, both versions of Giratina are capable of holding their own at the highest tiers, whether challenging Raid bosses or engaging in PvP combat.
In the Ultra and Master Leagues, both forms of Giratina perform exceptionally well. Altered form usually excels in the Ultra League, while Origin form is more advantageous for the Master League and also performs admirably in Raid boss battles. Having either form on your team is commendable, but Origin form Giratina is an essential component of any top-tier PvP Master League squad.
4. Togekiss
A Fairy-type Flying Pokémon
In their fourth evolutionary stage, Togepi and Togetic obtained the final piece of their family tree, transforming into Togekiss. This powerful Pokemon with a dragon type makes Togekiss highly sought after in Pokemon GO, as it poses a significant threat to many trainers’ teams, particularly when pitted against other dragon-type Pokemon.
Togekiss is a versatile choice for trainers, excelling in both player-versus-environment (PvE) and player-versus-player (PvP) content. This dual Fairy/Flying type can neutralize many formidable Pokemon found across all formats of the Pokemon Battle League. Togekiss is particularly troublesome for Dragon, Dark, or Fighting types that face it, as it often comes out on top in such matchups. The only Steel-type Pokemon that pose a significant threat to Togekiss are those like Metagross, making it an excellent addition to any Great League, Ultra League, or Master League team.
3. Rayquaza
A Flying-type Dragon Pokémon
In the Pokemon GO game, the legendary Pokemon Rayquaza, from the Pokemon Emerald version, was initially the strongest Dragon attacker upon its release. Although other Pokemons have surpassed it over time (a process known as power creeping), Rayquaza remains highly relevant. Notably, Rayquaza now possesses the Flying-type move called Dragon Ascent, which is unquestionably the most potent charge move currently available in the game.
As a passionate fan, I can’t help but marvel at the sheer might that Rayquaza wields! It strikes fear into any Raid boss unfortunate enough to cross its path. But its dominance doesn’t stop there; it reigns supreme as the best Flying-type attacker in the game and a formidable neutral damage dealer too. In Player vs Player battles, particularly in the Master League, Rayquaza truly shines. The absence of a CP limit in this league allows it to unleash its full potential. And when Mega Evolved, Rayquaza becomes an absolute beast, capable of dishing out damage that was once thought impossible in Pokemon GO.
2. Metagross
A Steel, Psychic-type Pokémon
In simple terms, the myth-like Pokémon Metagross, introduced in the Hoenn region, has been cherished by fans since its debut. Its unique Steel/Psychic type, which isn’t common, coupled with its impressive stat total, makes Metagross a formidable opponent, both offensively and defensively. When battling Raid bosses vulnerable to steel attacks, Metagross is an essential team member.
Regarding the GO Battle League, Metagross is a formidable opponent, particularly in the Master League format where it wreaks havoc on common choices like Zacian, Togekiss, and Dialga. Equipped with Earthquake as its second charge move, Metagross becomes a serious threat to potential walls or countering Pokémon due to its broad coverage.
In the GO Battle League’s Master League, Metagross is tough competition for popular picks like Zacian, Togekiss, and Dialga. With Earthquake as one of its moves, it can cause trouble for potential defense or counter Pokémon by attacking from different angles.
1. Mewtwo
A Legendary Psychic-type Pokémon
A Pokemon that requires no introduction, Mewtwo was previously the most coveted creature across all of Pokémon GO. Having Mewtwo as a trainer’s companion enabled them to overpower virtually any challenge the game presented. Despite the passage of time and changes in the meta, pushing this legendary Psychic type up and down the significance ladder, Mewtwo remains an essential team member that’s worth investing effort to obtain.
In Pokemon GO, Mewtwo remains the reigning monarch in the PvE realm due to its diverse selection of charge attacks and impressive neutral damage potential, effortlessly overpowering Raid bosses vulnerable to Psychic. Additionally, it causes havoc in the Master League format for similar reasons. Mewtwo has been an essential Pokemon in this game, a status that is likely to endure for quite some time.
