In response to a surge in hacking incidents, Valorant is introducing ranked rollbacks as a measure to combat these issues. In numerous online games, there’s a persistent problem with cheaters and hackers who aim to exploit the system for an unfair edge. Various developers employ various tactics to root them out, but these malicious players seem to always find loopholes to continue disrupting fair gameplay. Although Valorant boasts one of the top anti-cheat systems, it has lately been hit by a surge in hackers who are spoiling gamers’ enjoyment. Consequently, Riot Games is tightening their rules to impose harsher penalties on cheaters.
Riot Games’ chief anti-cheat officer, Phillip Koskinas, admitted on Twitter that there’s an ongoing issue with cheating in Valorant and promised players that the company is diligently working towards a solution. As part of their fresh approach, Riot Games plans to introduce ranked rollbacks, which means that a player’s progress or rank will be rolled back if they lost a match due to cheaters. Koskinas also revealed a chart indicating the number of cheaters banned by Riot’s Vanguard system in January, with the peak ban occurring on January 13.
Riot Games’ Future Valorant Bans Will Include Ranked Rollbacks
One player questioned what consequences might arise if they triumphed in a game alongside a cheater, highlighting the unfairness towards both the opposing team and their own teammates working with hackers. Koskinas clarified that players collaborating with hackers would maintain their ranking, while the opposing team would regain theirs. Koskinas justified this policy might lead to inflation, but they believe it’s acceptable to implement this approach in the game development process.
The Vanguard system in the game Valorant has shown great success in identifying and punishing cheaters, as it grants access at a kernel level on personal computers, similar features have been adopted by popular titles like Call of Duty to combat hackers. Despite studios’ efforts to expel cheaters from their games, they often find ways to return.
The fact that Valorant has previously banned numerous players provides reassurance for those enduring hackers in their competitive matches, as it demonstrates Riot Games’ dedication to resolving this issue and minimizing the current influx of cheaters. However, whether the new ranked rollback method will prove effective is still uncertain.
