Games With Delicious Looking In-Game Food

Frequently, food and meals depicted in different forms of media can spark a strong desire to eat them, be it the renowned cheeseburger from The Menu or Ratatouille as prepared by the famous cartoon rat, Remy.

Regardless if they are pixelated or lifelike, this style has found its way into video games too, as the food often appears so appetizing that it seems like you could actually eat it in reality.

Let’s delve into the world of gaming, focusing on titles that boast mouthwatering in-game cuisine so realistic it seems almost too good to be true. As a typical food enthusiast, you can relate, right?

10. Kingdom Hearts 3

Anyone Can cook!

Initially, I brought up Remy. To start, we delve into him through his brief role and mini-game included in Kingdom Hearts 3.

At Twilight Town, you’ll find Remy’s Le Grand Bistrot café. Here, join forces with Sora to prepare various dishes, but only if you can successfully follow the instructions for each recipe’s unique action series.

In simpler terms, you should categorize and prepare five distinct types of meals with multiple recipes for each category. However, the challenge lies in obtaining the necessary ingredients, which can be quite frustrating, largely due to Donald’s persistent demands that we gather as many items as possible from our shopping trips.

I particularly enjoy the full array of exotic fish dishes and the Warm Banana Soufflé from the dessert menu, since I have a strong preference for sweets. Moreover, watching Sora’s enthusiasm as he perfectly prepares each meal never fails to captivate me.

9. Dragon’s Dogma 2

It’s Actually Real

Incredibly, it’s true! The cooking sequences you see in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are actually real-life footage, as confirmed by its director Hideaki Itsuno.

Despite not boasting an extensive range of food options or focusing heavily on culinary aspects, the captivating animations showcasing the transformation of the meats into mouthwatering dishes is more than enough reason to include this game in our list.

It’s impressive how much I already admired Capcom’s RE Engine (especially with the stunning Resident Evil 2 Remake), but taking it a step further to meticulously portray no less than eight distinct culinary delights is simply mind-blowing.

8. Tales Of Arise

Even Rebellious Fighters Need A Hearty Meal

Despite not being particularly popular in mainstream circles, the Tales of Arise has managed to captivate many. It boasts an engaging narrative reminiscent of shonen anime, boasts beloved characters who engage in witty and endearing dialogue to add depth to their personalities.

The Tales of Arise, which isn’t widely popular, has become quite the hit due to its captivating storyline that resembles a shonen anime, its charming characters who are brought to life through clever dialogues, and overall fun party interactions.

The unique feature of Arise enables you to prepare meals over the campfire while taking breaks, bestowing various benefits to your team members for a brief period based on who you choose from your party.

Each of these dish presentations features a delightful little icon, making them enjoyable to behold, whether it’s the slightly chaotic pancakes from Shionne’s heartwarming sub-quest.

In the main game, there are more than 38 distinctive dishes for you to uncover. Among them, the ones that pique my interest and I’d love to taste myself are undeniably the Mabo Curry Bun and the Elegant Parfait.

7. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Cheese Wheels And More…

I didn’t particularly enjoy playing Skyrim, as it wasn’t quite my preferred style of game. Yet, I acknowledge its significance and the cultural impact it has achieved within the gaming industry over time.

In this game, the food is not only visually stunning but also mouthwateringly realistic, making it the most appealing and photo-worthy food I’ve encountered so far in a game set in a medieval era.

The focus isn’t solely on specific meals, but rather on how each food item appears as if it was beautifully crafted in a tranquil landscape by the masterful hand of Bob Ross, posthumously.

As a devoted enthusiast, I must say, whether it’s the hearty, rustic fare in the cozy taverns and inns or the delectable treats such as the scrumptious sweet rolls and apple pies, the craftsmanship and detailing on them is nothing short of extraordinary.

6. Battle Chef Brigade

Iron Chef Battle

In Battle Chef Brigade, you’ll experience a diverse mix of gameplay perspectives by controlling three distinct characters. This game stands out as one of the most exceptional and unusual titles on our list.

The game’s unique blend of intuitive side-scrolling battles and intense match-3 puzzle challenges maintains your interest throughout, even though it may be relatively brief in duration.

However, the core emphasis lies in the culinary aspects, and let me tell you, it excels impressively in this area. Every playable character and non-player character possesses unique culinary styles and recipes, and the game’s artistic design beautifully enhances this culinary experience.

Mina Han’s vibrant, Chinese-style dishes and Thrash’s hearty meals, featuring my preferred dish, the delectable Taka Berry Miguelitos dessert, are visually enticing and mouthwatering.

The eye-catching Chinese-influenced creations of Mina Han and the tasty, meat-based dishes by Thrash, including my favorite, his exquisite Taka Berry Miguelitos dessert, are all incredibly appetizing to behold.

5. Dave The Diver

A Seafood Restaurant Like No Other

Here at this place, you’ll find a diverse range of activities – from scuba diving under the sea to managing restaurants on land, not to mention gardening! Our star character, Dave The Diver, excels in all these fields. And just recently arrived, it’s gameplay will surely hook you with its irresistible loop!

Despite its pixel art aesthetic, the abundance of food items in this game might seem sparse at first glance. However, quite the contrary is true.

As a food enthusiast, I’m absolutely thrilled about the endless variety of delectable dishes on offer here, ranging from classic sushi rolls to the more exotic, such as the Trout Sea Grapes Rice Bowl. It’s a culinary adventure waiting to happen!

4. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Saving Hyrule, One Five-Star Meal At A Time

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild should rightfully be included for its exceptional status as one of the top open-world games; not only that, but it also stands out due to its visually appealing and mouthwatering food elements.

In this game, Link is able to prepare various dishes, provided that he has the necessary elements like a fire and a cooking pot. These essentials enable him to combine ingredients, which in turn award him a fluctuating amount of hearts and temporary boosts to his abilities.

Some of these recipes are over-the-top amazing; even Binging with Babish has taken on the challenge to make them flawlessly.)

Among many delicious dishes available, there isn’t enough room to highlight my favorites. If you haven’t tried these culinary creations yet, give them a taste, and you’ll discover that Link might secretly be the talented Chef Marco Pierre in disguise.

3. Monster Hunter: World

A Hunter’s Mighty Appetite

A well-known aspect of the Monster Hunter series has long been ensuring you’re well-fed before taking on a fierce battle against a beast or Elder Dragon.

In Monster Hunter: World, they skillfully incorporated that aspect, allowing you to choose from several different meals, some components of which you may have to discover during quests on occasion.

Here’s a delightful twist: The enchanting cooking animations in the Felyne canteen, showcasing your meal preparation, are undeniably the cutest aspect of gaming worlds.

Regardless if it’s the Meowscular Chef from Astera or the graceful Grammeowster in Iceborne DLC, they both exhibit an adorable culinary performance, eventually serving our Hunter a colossal dish bursting with deliciousness.

2. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

The World Is Your Oyster

As a diehard fan, I’ve got to say that the Yakuza series remains my ultimate go-to for its captivating narratives and one-of-a-kind gameplay mechanics. And let me tell you, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth with its quirky JRPG adventures starring Ichiban Kasuga is no exception to this love!

The vibrant backdrop of the game is the lush Hawaiian archipelago, and while there were numerous culinary options to select from various games, the dishes featured in Infinite Wealth stand out as exceptional.

At RGG Studios, they’ve clearly done thorough research, as they offer a wide variety of well-known Hawaiian treats. From enticing shaved ice stands to traditional favorites such as Poke and Loco Moco, you’ll find almost everything that embodies the taste of Hawaii.

The array of dishes on the menu appears incredibly appetizing, causing the diverse culinary offerings and eateries found in Infinite Wealth to seem far more rewarding compared to other Yakuza games.

1. Final Fantasy 15

“That’s It! I’ve Come Up With A New Recipe!”

Hearing Ignis say his signature phrase during Final Fantasy 15 is truly satisfying, as he plays the role of the caring and nurturing member in the group, fittingly named for this quality.

Not only can you enjoy Ignis’ delicious homemade dishes, but various eateries throughout Eos, ranging from high-end restaurants to casual diners, serve a variety of tasty meals as well.

Without a doubt, FF15 earns the number one spot primarily for its exquisite in-game cuisine displayed upon launch, even though the game’s overall quality might be debated.

As a gamer, I can tell you that no gaming session will ever be the same after experiencing the immersive close-ups of each dish that arrives at this place. The variety here is staggering, with some truly one-of-a-kind dishes like the amusing Stacked Ham Sandwich, an assortment of quirky Cup Noodles versions, and the mouthwatering Prime Garula Rib – these are my personal favorites that I’ll always remember.
