Fans of the critically acclaimed 2024 release, Astro Bot, might want to explore the freshly launched PlayStation 5 game, Boti: Byteland Overclocked. Given that Astro Bot was not only the highest-rated new video game of 2024 but also snatched the Game of the Year award at The Game Awards, it’s understandable that PlayStation 5 players might be seeking a comparable gaming experience.
Fortunately for me as a PlayStation 5 fan, there’s an abundance of captivating 3D platformer games to explore. Mostly, I find these gems through the collection of timeless titles offered in the PS Plus Premium library. Although some of these games can be bought individually, subscribing to PS Plus Premium grants me access to a wealth of classic 3D platformers from the PlayStation 2 era. This treasure trove includes the thrilling trilogies of Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper, which I’m eager to delve into!
3D platformer enthusiasts searching for a fresh adventure on PS5 might want to explore Boti: Byteland Overclocked. This game shares a resemblance with the beloved Astro Bot due to its technological theme and robotic characters. While it may not reach the heights of Team Asobi’s masterpiece, it’s an enjoyable platformer that offers plenty of fun. The experience becomes even more engaging when you play its stages cooperatively with a friend.
Boti: Byteland Overclocked is a 3D Platformer With Co-Op
The game titled “Boti: Byteland Overclocked” offers a split-screen mode for two players to enjoy the entire game simultaneously. This local cooperative play significantly enhances the appeal of “Boti“, making it more appealing and easier to suggest. What’s even more enticing is the affordable price point of just $19.99, or $15.99 for PS Plus subscribers. While it may not match the shine and entertainment of games like Astro Bot or some high-end 3D platformers available on PS5, it remains a commendable option, particularly for those seeking a cooperative gaming experience.
In terms of professional critiques, Boti: Byteland Overclocked might be a bit light, yet it boasts a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam.
On the PlayStation 5, the action-packed local co-op platformer “Boti: Overclocked” is the newest addition. Previously, there was “The Smurfs: Dreams”, an unexpectedly enjoyable 3D platformer that draws inspiration from “Super Mario 3D World”. Additionally, “Nikoderiko: The Magical World” has been introduced, a game that plays similar to a fusion of “Donkey Kong Country” and “Crash Bandicoot”.
Some fans of Astro Bot might not be keen on exploring other 3D platformers and instead focus on additional content for their favorite game. While Team Asobi has provided updates for Astro Bot post-launch, including speedrun challenges and a festive Christmas stage, it’s uncertain if further content is planned. However, there’s always a glimmer of hope. Some fans might wish for the team to focus on its next venture instead.
