Pokemon GO Event Adding Long-Requested Feature for a Limited Time

Summary

  • Pokemon GO players can use remote raid passes in Shadow Raids during Fashion Week: Taken Over.
  • Players have the chance to capture Pokemon with higher IV stats during Shadow Raids.
  • Remote raid passes will only be available in Shadow Raids for a limited time.

For the upcoming Fashion Week: Taken Over event, Niantic has declared that players of Pokemon GO can now employ remote raid passes for Shadow Raids – an innovative feature that was introduced in 2023 and has since become a fan favorite for capturing powerful Pokemon.

Starting in 2025, Niantic has revealed numerous updates for their widely played augmented reality game. In January itself, players of Pokemon GO can anticipate the comeback of Ralts for the second Pokemon GO Community Day of the month. As a new event is about to kick off, the developers of Pokemon GO have delighted fans by finally incorporating a highly requested feature into the mobile game.

During the “Pokemon GO” Fashion Week: Taken Over event, trainers will be able to utilize remote raid passes for Shadow Raids for the first time. This event takes place from Wednesday, January 15 (starting at 12:00 a.m.) to Sunday, January 19, 2025 (ending at 8:00 p.m.), all in local time. During this period, players can engage in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids either in person or remotely. Participants of Shadow Raids will have the opportunity to capture Pokemon with better Individual Values (IVs).

Pokemon GO Temporarily Introducing Remote Raid Passes for Shadow Raids

Despite being exclusive to the Fashion Week: Taken Over event, participants can engage in remote battles during the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid day on January 19, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., local time. On this special day, trainers will have an increased chance to catch a rare shiny shadow Ho-Oh, plus the opportunity to teach it the charged attack Sacred Fire. Additionally, players can utilize a Charged TM on Shadow Pokemon to erase the move Frustration.

As a dedicated Pokémon GO enthusiast, I can’t hide my excitement about using my Remote Raid Passes in Shadow Raids! This feature has been one of the most eagerly anticipated additions to the game since it was first introduced back in 2023. However, it’s important to note that after the Fashion Week: Taken Over event wraps up, players will no longer be able to utilize any Remote Raid Passes during Shadow Raids.

It remains uncertain whether Niantic will continue letting players use remote raid passes for shadow raids or if this was a unique event. Given the controversy surrounding Dynamax and Gigantamax battles due to the need for multiple trainers to gather in person to battle stronger Pokemon, many fans would welcome a permanent implementation of this feature in Pokemon GO.
