Severance Season 2 Actor Admits He’s Never Watched the Show

Summary

  • Severance star John Turturro hasn’t seen the show, making avoiding spoilers easy.
  • Turturro’s lack of knowledge adds humor to press interviews with other cast members.
  • Director Ben Stiller confirms work on Severance season three, as fans eagerly await new episodes.

It’s quite unusual these days to find someone who hasn’t watched the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series, “Severance”, yet one of the lead actors appears to have missed out on catching any episodes so far. As we approach the season two debut in just a few days, this intriguing sci-fi television show has kept viewers engrossed in its bizarre and chilling narratives since it first premiered on February 18, 2022.

Under the guidance of creators Dan Erickson and director Ben Stiller, the captivating series Severance follows the journey of Mark Scout, a widowed former professor portrayed by Adam Scott, who works for Lumon Industries. Mark consents to a unique “severance” process that divides his non-work memories (referred to as “outie”) from his work memories (“innie”). As the story unfolds, Mark grapples with the realization that Lumon may not be as supportive as they claim, while other characters face their own challenges with their divided selves. The wait for this intriguing show’s fans has been lengthy, spanning nearly three years, but it appears that season two could provide explanations for many of the enigmatic questions left unanswered in the first season, such as the disappearance of Ms Casey and the curious goat-related mysteries.

Severance Star John Turturro Says He’s Never Watched the Show

In an interview with Comicbook, John Turturro from the Severance cast admitted that it’s been effortless for him to avoid revealing spoilers since he hasn’t actually watched the show himself. During discussions about their press tour and maintaining secrecy in interviews, Turturro explained, “I haven’t seen the series, so I’m essentially an outsider.” Conversely, other Severance actors like Britt Lower (Helly) found it challenging to avoid spoilers, describing their press tour as a complex challenge. Zach Cherry (Dylan), when faced with difficult questions and the fear of disclosing too much, opted for a straightforward approach: “I just pretend to be clueless. I don’t know, I can’t remember. We don’t recall anything we did at work; we were severed,” he quipped humorously.

It might be that Turturro was mistaken about not seeing season two of Severance, or perhaps he misspoke, but either way, it’s common for actors to dislike watching themselves on the big screen, so it’s plausible that this applies to Turturro as well. After his role in Severance as Irving, Turturro played Carmine Falcone in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Since then, he has appeared in The Room Next Door, Mr & Mrs Smith, and provided the voice for Dottore in Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.

Regarding the third season of the series “Severance”, it appears that some positive updates have emerged. The show’s director, Ben Stiller, has hinted at its continuation if it continues to thrive, and he is now initiating the production work for Season 3. You can catch up on the first season, which is currently streaming on Apple TV+, while the second season is scheduled to premiere on January 17, 2025.
