Divinity Original Sin 2: Where To Find Blackroot

In the magical world of Divinity: Original Sin 2, I’ve come across quite a few herbs scattered throughout Rivellon. But none seem as crucial as the elusive Blackroot. This herb plays a pivotal role in the Miester’s Ritual during the fourth act of the game. Under the guidance of Miester Siva, I had to create a unique Ritual Bowl by combining a ritual bowl, a bloody obsidian lancet, and the Blackroot. This special concoction granted me access to the Hall of Echoes, which in turn rewarded me with the coveted Night Vision skill.

The first instance of executing this ritual, all the essential components to assemble the ritual bowl are located in Siva’s basement. For every Source point you accumulate, you become entitled to carry out the ritual. However, unlike the initial time, you will need to source all the necessary ingredients for the ritual individually. Acquiring a ritual bowl and obsidian lancet should not present much trouble, and it’s possible that you might already have them in your possession. The search for Blackroot, on the other hand, can be quite demanding. If you’ve been struggling to find the Blackroot, this guide could turn out to be useful.

Venture Into Cloisterwood

In the captivating northwest corner of Repear’s Coast lies the enchanting Cloisterwood Forest, just a quick trek north from the charming town of Driftwood. Once you’ve ventured deep into its verdant depths, press and hold the left ALT key to spot all hidden loot nestled within.

As you explore, you’ll likely come across various herbs such as Blackroots at the base of certain trees. While you only need one Blackroot for the ritual, it’s recommended to gather a few extra just to be safe. This guide won’t disclose specific details about how many times the ritual needs to be performed, but you can carry out the ritual whenever you earn a Source point.

Cloisterwood Exploration Tips

In the thick woodlands of Cloisterwood, numerous mysteries lie hidden. Among these are two Non-Player Characters that could reward you with a Source point apiece, a ghostly merchant dealing in the supernatural, and a formidable witch ready for a fierce confrontation.

Two characters, Hannag and Jahan, are available to aid you in gathering Source points. Notably, Jahan is also connected to Lohse’s storyline progression. Hidden within some decayed ruins, you can find an undead merchant named Eithne. Engage with Eithne and select the “Divine Order” option to start a side quest offered by her.

In the northernmost part of Cloisterwood lies a pier where you’ll find a character known as the Dead Ferryman, who can take you to Bloodmoon Island. Among other interesting characters in Cloisterwood, there are hidden gems such as the Wrecker’s Cave and a chance to acquire a special loremaster amulet by communicating with the spirit of a ship captain. If you’re new to Cloisterwood, it’s wise to explore this area extensively before confronting Alice Alisceon, the crucified witch, as she might be too challenging until you reach level 15.
