Destiny 2’s Arc Subclasses Are Getting a Game-Changing Overhaul You Won’t Believe!

Summary

  • Destiny 2’s Episode 3 Heresy is adding new gameplay elements, weapons, and Arc Aspects.
  • Bolt Charge buff for Arc subclasses and new Aspects aim to elevate Arc element to the power players crave.
  • Changes like Bolt Charge and new Aspects are expected to enhance gameplay at all levels in Destiny 2.

It’s reasonable to believe that Episode Revenant was a significant low point in Destiny 2’s timeline, as the community’s spirits were dampened following an abundance of technical issues that disrupted gameplay. Known as Episode 3, Heresy delves into Hive lore and returns players to The Dreadnaught, formerly Oryx’s ship, now serving as a hub for missions and exploration in this new expansion.

Destiny 2’s Heresy demands perfection across the board – from innovative gameplay mechanics, powerful weapons, intricate crafting systems, and every other facet of the game. Fortunately, recent TWAB (This Week At Bungie) post provides insights into the improvements planned for Heresy. In a positive turn, Bungie is addressing the underperforming subclasses in Destiny 2.

In a typical fashion for Bungie, additional gameplay features get introduced over time, often during new releases which stir up excitement. Following the debut of Prismatic subclasses in The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2, the game’s meta, or common strategies used in both PvE and PvP, underwent a significant shift, for better or worse. Prismatic subclasses are currently some of the strongest in the game due to their unique abilities, and while all three (Solar, Void, and Strand) are powerful, Stasis is currently underperforming, with Arc possibly being the least effective. However, Heresy is set to alter this balance.

Destiny 2 is Buffing Arc Subclasses, Adding New Aspects in Heresy

In Episode 3 of Destiny 2, game developers Bungie have introduced a new ability for Arc subclasses called Bolt Charge. This buff increases in size over time by accumulating stacks, and when fully charged, it releases a potent lightning bolt strike onto targets. The purpose is to enhance the sensation of wielding a destructive force as a damage-dealing tool on Arc subclasses. Players can acquire Bolt Charge through various means such as Aspects, Fragments, and weapon upgrades, and by dealing damage with weapons, you can build up to 10 stacks. Using your abilities will then activate the lightning bolt from Bolt Charge, inflicting tremendous damage on enemies.

Alongside the introduction of Bolt Charge in Destiny 2, Bungie is also incorporating three fresh Aspects into subclasses. These include On The Prowl for Void Hunters, Storm’s Keep for Arc Titans, and Ionic Sentry for Arc Warlocks. It’s worth noting that On The Prowl isn’t an Arc Aspect, but Hunters can relax as they will be able to obtain Bolt Charge from various sources such as:

  • Tempest Strike – Killing any jolted target grants a stack of Bolt Charge
  • Disorienting Blow – Now grants a moderate amount of Bolt Charge stacks when dealing damage
  • Arc Staff – Reflecting an attack will grant a stack of Bolt Charge

It’s important to note that along with The Final Shape update, Hunters gained a fresh Arc Aspect named Ascension, while Titans received Unbreakable (Void), and Warlocks were bestowed with Hellion (Solar).

Destiny 2’s New Arc Aspects Explained

Regarding the updated Arc Aspects, their purpose is to work in harmony with Bolt Charge to elevate Destiny 2‘s Arc subclasses. Storm’s Keep empowers Titans by accumulating Bolt Charge stacks and bestowing them onto allies as they activate their Barricade ability. Moreover, additional stacks are gained while hiding behind the Barricade and releasing them once they reach 10 with any weapon damage. This substantially enhances the Titan’s Arc offense, enabling them to maintain a safer distance in combat if desired.

Warlocks acquire the Ionic Sentry Aspect, which becomes operational after defeating adversaries with Arc powers or weapons. Once activated, this ability sends out an Arc turret that momentarily blinds enemies upon impact and subsequently chains lightning to nearby foes, accumulating Bolt Charge stacks whenever it eliminates enemies. In Destiny 2’s challenging endgame content, the Blind effect ensures player safety, while stacking Bolt Charge can unleash substantial damage on bosses or Champions when required.

The enhancements and modifications being implemented into Destiny 2’s Arc element are expected to significantly boost its power across all gameplay levels, which is long overdue for the Arc subclasses. It’s uncertain how influential Bolt Charge will ultimately be, but it’s a promising step in the right direction for Heresy.
