Summary
- A Pokemon fan artist created an Ice-type Past Paradox Staryu named Glacial Star.
- Glacial Star combines elements of ice and crystal, resembling a snowflake.
- Despite being weak to common types, the Glacial Star concept garners fan attention.
A devoted Pokemon artist showcased a unique adaptation on social media, presenting a Past Paradox form of Staryu with Ice as its primary type rather than Water. The creative Pokemon enthusiast displayed their icy Paradox Pokemon artwork to their fellow fans, sparking discussions about the design and name of their innovative creation.
Initially debuting in Pokemon Red and Blue, this character is famously recognized as the Star-shaped Pokemon, Staryu. Upon encountering a Water Stone, it evolves into Starmie, acquiring both Water and Psychic types. In various Pokemon games, Kanto’s Water-type Gym Leader, Misty, utilizes Staryu prominently. In combat, Staryu is swift with an impressive base Speed stat, capable of executing moves like Water Gun, Scald, and Rapid Spin. Regrettably, despite being fan favorites among Pokemon trainers, Staryu and Starmie are unfortunately unobtainable in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
In an innovative twist by a Pokemon trainer known as Matratzfratz on the r/pokemon subreddit, Staryu underwent a prehistoric transformation in their fan art. Dubbed Glacial Star, this unique creation follows the naming pattern of Past Paradox Pokemon found in Pokemon Scarlet. The centerpiece of Glacial Star is a royal blue crystal, surrounded by a light blue outline reminiscent of Staryu. Crystalline limbs radiate outward from the central crystal, giving the character an intricate snowflake shape. Five smaller floating crystals orbit around its body. In the accompanying description, Glacial Star is depicted as a Past Paradox ancestor of Staryu and Starmie that lived during the Ice Age.
Pokemon Fan Artist Designs Ice-Type Past Paradox Staryu Concept
In terms of its role as a Past Paradox Pokemon, Glacial Star might possess the Protosynthesis ability, which can enhance its stats by utilizing a Booster Energy item or thriving under sunlight weather conditions. Being a pure Ice-type Pokemon, Glacial Star may encounter tough challenges. While it is effective against Dragon and Flying Pokemon such as Dragonite and Rayquaza, Ice Pokemon are vulnerable to Fire, Rock, Fighting, and Steel attacks – all of which are frequently employed in competitive battles within the games Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Other Pokemon trainers joined the discussion about Glacial Star’s name and appearance, with one pointing out its resemblance to Cryogonal. As for Pokemon Legends: Z-A due in 2025, we’ll have to wait and see if Staryu and Starmie make a comeback in the upcoming game.
