As a devoted fan, I was thrilled when Nintendo unveiled the release date and price of the Switch 2 during their April 2nd Nintendo Direct broadcast. However, due to tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on goods from countries like China and Vietnam, pre-orders for this eagerly anticipated system were postponed in the US and Canada.
Two weeks later, Nintendo announced that the retail price for both Switch 2 consoles and games would remain unchanged. To offset costs, there was a slight increase in the price of accessories. The good news is, pre-orders will start again in the US and Canada on April 24th through popular retailers such as GameStop, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy. For those who are eager to secure their pre-order, the My Nintendo Store will begin accepting orders via an email lottery system from May 8th.
