The Gears of War series is well-known for its pop culture collaborations. Characters like Dom and Marcus ventured into other franchises as early as 2010, visiting the icy E.D.N. III in Lost Planet 2. Later on, the Armadillo from Gears of War made an appearance in the Xbox One version of Rocket League. General Raam was introduced as a fighter in Killer Instinct’s Season 3, while Marcus and Kait have been featured as skins in both Fortnite and Fall Guys.
Most collaborations in the “Gears of War” series have taken place elsewhere, but it has also hosted a few partnerships like “Terminator: Dark Fate” and “Halo”. It’s uncertain if the upcoming “Gears of War: E-Day” will bring more crossovers to the expanding collection, but if it does and “Halo” makes another appearance, the collaboration should focus primarily on a specific type of content.
Gears of War: E-Day Should Go Above and Beyond With Any Halo Crossovers
Gears of War: E-Day Should Continue What Gears 5 Started
In late August 2019, prior to its September release, the game Gears 5 revealed that owners of the Ultimate Edition and subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate would be given a DLC package inspired by the classic game Halo: Reach, which was originally released nearly a decade earlier. This DLC pack included two new playable characters, who were designed after Spartans Emile-A239 and Kat-B320 from Halo: Reach. These characters were voiced by their original actors from the game.
In addition to distinctive dialogue options, characters Kat and Emile in Gears 5 boast special ultimate skills drawn from their gear in Halo: Reach. Emile can set up a protective Drop Shield for teammates, whereas Kat can deploy a Hologram to mislead adversaries. This cross-over content package also included various themed items like weapon finishes and a banner inspired by Noble Team.
A Gears of War: E-Day x Halo Crossover Should Add New PvP Content
The collaboration in the DLC for Gears 5, featuring Halo: Reach, was truly impressive, enriching both the multiplayer and Horde gameplay modes substantially. However, if Gears of War: E-Day were to expand upon its Halo crossover content post-release, it could take this partnership to even greater heights.
Initially, imagining a fusion between “Gears of War: E-Day” and “Halo“, we propose an enhancement that includes incorporating additional characters into the game’s multiplayer (PvP) and Horde modes. Characters like Master Chief and the Arbiter from “Halo” could be introduced to enrich the “Gears” universe. To add a more exciting twist, we suggest including a selection of weapons inspired by “Halo“, such as the Energy Sword, Gravity Hammer, Needler, Battle Rifle, Magnum, and others. Although these weapons might require adjustments to suit “Gears of War‘s” unique cover-based third-person shooting style, it would be thrilling to see them integrated, even if just for a temporary special event.
In a potential scenario, those weapons might include gear reminiscent of the popular “Halo” series, adapted slightly for compatibility with the “Gears” multiplayer structure. Items such as Plasma Grenades, Active Camo, Bubble Shields, and Deployable Covers could potentially blend seamlessly into the gameplay of “Gears of War”. However, it’s essential to note that such crossover content, which could impact gameplay, should not be part of the story mode in “Gears of War: E-Day”. Nevertheless, it would undeniably be exciting to witness this blend in multiplayer and PvE modes like Horde, if the mode is included in the prequel.
