Summary
- Boost stats – prioritize attack, defense, or HP based on difficulty.
- Chain Evasion – master dodging for counter opportunities.
- Aerial Retribution – utilize counter stances for stylish strikes.
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the leveling-up process differs from that in many Musou games. Instead, it revolves around enhancing proficiency with weapons such as swords and spears. As a weapon progresses, players are rewarded with a higher rank. At certain levels, players can unlock new skill trees where they can invest earned points.
In the game Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you can amass Skill Points during leveling up, or from side quests and defeating more enemies on missions. The method players use to gain these skill points isn’t important for this discussion; instead, we’re focusing on the top skills that can be found early in the game, ranked by their overall effectiveness.
7. Boost Stats
From Attack To HP
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, there are three main types of abilities that enhance a player’s stats, found throughout most skill trees in the game. The Attack Amplifier increases the power of regular attacks, Defense Fortifier reduces the damage taken from enemies, and Increase Health raises your character’s HP levels (The Wanderer’s health points). Usually, these abilities branch off at key junctions on the skill tree. Depending on the difficulty mode you’re playing in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, players might find themselves favoring either defense or health boosts as they progress through higher difficulties, where increased defense or HP become more crucial.
6. Chain Evasion
Dodge Like A Pro
In the game Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the dodge system is quite effective for a Musou title. When players dodge at the perfect moment, the action temporarily slows down, offering them an opportunity to retaliate. It’s not as dramatically slowed as Witch Time in the Bayonetta series, but it’s still quite impressive when executed correctly.
In “Dynasty Warriors: Origins,” the Chain Evasion skill enables players to continue their dodging sequence without waiting for recharge periods. A complementary skill, Perfect Evade, rewards players with Combat Points upon a successful dodge. Although the naming might be confusing, these points are crucial as they are used to activate Battle Arts in the game.
5. Aerial Retribution
Countering With Style
In the game, players can easily deflect, dodge, and retaliate against opponents using various moves. However, certain Battle Arts simplify the parry-counter system even further, like Aerial Retribution. With this skill, players assume a counter stance, and if an enemy rushes towards them, they jump and release a sonic wave mid-air, similar to the energy Goku releases in the Dragon Ball anime when he jumps. This move throws enemies off balance, providing players with some breathing room to evade in the air before returning for additional attacks.
4. Item Investor
Gotta Collect ‘Em All
In a Musou game, characters start off with the capacity to carry only one kind of item, Meat Buns. As they advance, they’ll discover shops where they can purchase an array of items to enhance their abilities. For instance, a Fortitude Pill temporarily boosts defense. The Item Investor skill enables players to carry more items into battle, which they can then equip. In these games, a well-prepared warrior is always a strategic one, even if there are other options available.
3. Meat Bun Glutton
Hold More To Heal More
Instead of finding random items, you’ll often encounter Meat Buns, a common recovery item in this game. Players can expect to have plenty of these on every mission. They resemble but are not exactly like Estus Flasks from the Dark Souls series. You can pick them up from fallen enemies or hidden in pots within enemy territories. A skill called Meat Bun Glutton lets players carry more Meat Buns at once, while Meat Perceiver allows for the detection of Meat Buns on the map when Eyes of the Sacred Bird is activated. Greater Gratification boosts the healing power of these Meat Buns.
2. Dispersion Arrow
A Bow-tastic Battle Art
In the game Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the Dispersion Arrow is another valuable Battle Art that you shouldn’t delay in obtaining. It requires four Bravery Points, which might seem costly, but it’s definitely worth it. Unfortunately, there are no regular bow weapons to use within the game, but this Battle Art provides a substitute by launching a massive volley of arrows at your enemies.
It’s beneficial for managing large groups of people, particularly during the epic, climactic battles in the game. These can be quite intense for a Musou game, which is notable given that the series has been around for several decades.
1. Army Of One
Boost Musou Gauge After Defeating 1,000 Enemies
As soon as Army of One becomes accessible in the skill trees, it’s a must-have upgrade for The Wanderer. Once they’ve slain 1,000 enemies on the battlefield, this skill temporarily amplifies their power, making their Musou attacks even more destructive than before. Since players are essentially “lone armies” in these games, Army of One reinforces that theme. Another valuable Musou-related skill is Extreme Musou Attacks, which lets you team up with allies to unleash joint attacks using the Musou Gauge during combat.
