The challenging world map of Elden Ring has been remade in a way that resembles Super Mario World’s style. Instead of the original game’s tough locations, adorable symbols from Nintendo’s beloved franchise replace them. Fans of Elden Ring have made it one of the most well-liked games in its genre, and they continually express their admiration for its quality through a range of fan art, such as imagined comic book covers and character redesigns.
In 2022, Elden Ring was launched and was later awarded Game of the Year. Then, in June 2024, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion was released, which was equally successful. This DLC transported players from the Lands Between to the Land of Shadow, setting up Messmer the Impaler’s narrative. As Shadow of the Erdtree was a summer 2024 release, fans are eagerly anticipating the next Soulslike challenge. Players can now register for the Elden Ring Nightreign closed beta test, which is set to begin on February 14, 2025.
On Instagram, sometime_tomorrow_studio shared an imaginative take on the realm of Elden Ring. The artwork, set amidst water, showcases grasslands and islands, with identifiable locations like Elphael and Brace of the Haligtree marked by numbers. The artist disclosed that they utilized original sprites from Zanzio and The Spriters Resource to create this masterpiece, pushing their creative boundaries so much that it resulted in carpal tunnel syndrome. This unique interpretation of Elden Ring’s blueprint, which blends captivating lore, open-world exploration, and intricate storytelling, was an unexpected twist for the gaming community – akin to transforming the dark fantasy landscape of the Lands Between into pixel art reminiscent of Super Mario.
Pixel Artist Turns Elden Ring Map Into Super Mario World
As a gamer, I was blown away when I saw someone recreating the Land of Shadow from “Shadow of the Erdtree” in the same style. The Soulslike community couldn’t contain their excitement and quickly started praising this amazing mashup. Some fans even asked for prints!
On the other hand, another Elden Ring fan took it upon themselves to bring the Lands Between into the world of Super Mario. However, I have to admit that this doesn’t quite capture the punishing nature of the action RPG we all know and love from Elden Ring.
In addition to fan art, characters from the popular game Super Mario have been incorporated into the dark world of FromSoftware through a creative mod called “Garden of Eyes’ Elden Ring mod.” This modification unexpectedly gave Godrick the Grafted a Super Mario-style makeover, transforming him into the bug-eyed title character and making Yoshi his pet dragon. The mod also introduced other well-known figures from pop culture into the Lands Between, such as Homer Simpson, Moana, and Ugandan Knuckles.
