Later this week, I’m pumped to welcome a fresh hero into my gaming world – the formidable Mongolian Khatun! Ubisoft has finally unveiled the secret identity of the second new character in For Honor‘s The Serpent Sword update.
The game For Honor commenced its fresh season on December 5, marking the conclusion of the eighth year of updates for the 2017 medieval multiplayer game with the Y8S4 update. The Serpent Sword update brought a new character, unique cosmetics and personalization options, and a new 100-tier battle pass, as well as an extra legacy pass granting exclusive access to older Year 4 content adapted for modern fighters. In this season, players were given the chance to meet General Zhi, a shrewd Wu Lin strategist wielding the legendary Starfall Sword, who is now available as a new Zhanhu Hero Skin. Additionally, gamers can now play as the Sohei Hero, a skilled warrior monk proficient in seven weapons, adding diversity to a game renowned for its excellent medieval combat.
Approximately a month down the line, Ubisoft has given fans of For Honor additional reasons to be excited. In an exclusive reveal with IGN, Ubisoft has hinted at the introduction of a new deadly Hero character set to join the roster of For Honor’s 35 current fighters. Armed with terrifying Turoc-Mongol sabers, the Mongolian Khatun is scheduled to enter the battlefield along with other powerful female warriors in For Honor on January 23.
Mongolian Khatun Revealed as New For Honor Character Coming on January 23
Historically, the term “Khatun” was used to refer to a female leader who held power equivalent to a Mongolian Khan or Turkic Khagan. This title lived on in its Turkish form even within the later Ottoman Empire. In the game For Honor, players can anticipate that Khatun will swiftly defeat her foes with graceful precision, striking them down quickly with her pair of sabers. The Khatun’s appearance marks a return to the game’s historical theme after a temporary shift into science fiction during the recent Destiny 2 Halloween event.
Through consistent updates and improvements, Ubisoft has stayed dedicated to keeping one of the top medieval multiplayer battle games thriving. The Serpent Sword update in December boosted For Honor’s peak player count on Steam to 8,735 – nearly double that of the previous month. At present, the game maintains a solid player base, with many players thinking it’s high time for a For Honor sequel. Regardless of its steep learning curve, newcomers should feel confident diving into For Honor’s fast-paced and strategic battles, especially during the upcoming free play week from January 23 to January 30 on Xbox and PlayStation to celebrate the release of the Khatun hero. Gamers can catch a glimpse of the game’s latest character in the Warrior’s Den at 12pm EST on January 22.
