Summary
- Loki calls himself the Sun God who will destroy the world.
- Loki wants to be Nika, the God of Liberation or Destruction.
- Loki’s Devil Fruit might make him another version of Nika.
In the storyline of “One Piece,” Loki is a significant figure during the Elbaf arc, and this is evident to the viewers. Readers have been intrigued by Loki’s character since his initial appearance in the Whole Cake Island arc of “One Piece.” Fans have been speculating about who Loki would become ever since.
Currently, it appears that Elbaf has bestowed upon him an immensely significant role, viewing him as potentially capable of annihilating the world. Without a doubt, Loki embodies monstrous qualities, and it seems his strength could originate from a Devil Fruit, which seems to grant divine powers, specifically those of a Destruction Deity. Herein lies the story of how Loki obtained this Devil Fruit and its implications for the future of One Piece.
Loki As The Destroyer Of The World
- Loki Calls Himself The Sun God Who Will Destroy The World
- Loki Wants To Be Nika
Readers are already captivated by Loki, even though he hasn’t made much of an impact in the Elbaf storyline so far. He’s been tied up since the beginning, and fans eagerly await his release to uncover more about him and his strength. While it’s intriguing to speculate, Loki has already sparked great excitement among fans simply by proclaiming himself a Sun God. In Elbaf, many aspire to be the Sun God, including the former king, Harald, and Road, the navigator of the New Giant Warrior Pirates. However, Loki’s claim seems to hold more truth than the others’, making him an even more intriguing character.
I’m the Sun God who will destroy the world! — Loki
In their initial encounter, Loki presented himself as a deity of the sun who intended to bring about global destruction. Upon meeting the Holy Knights, he reinforced this sentiment, stating that while he grieved for his deceased friend, he would instead channel that grief into leveling the world. It’s evident that Loki views himself as the impending apocalypse of the universe, a unique characteristic. The claim to destroy the world is not a recent fabrication on Loki’s part; rather, it’s a belief deeply rooted in the Giants’ nation, who have witnessed and acknowledged his true nature. As per Elder Jarul, Loki aspires to emulate Nika by bringing about worldwide destruction.
Nika — The Liberator And The Destroyer Of The World
The Sun God Can Be A Warrior of Liberation Or A God Of Destruction

Fans might find it perplexing that Loki, who claims to be a Sun God, would aim to destroy the world, given that the Wano Country Arc depicts the Sun God Nika as a symbol of liberation, spreading happiness and rescuing those in need from hardship and oppression. The Five Elders have previously witnessed Nika and fought against him during the Void Century, portraying him as a savior of the world. However, things seem to be different in Elbaf.
It could leave fans puzzled as to why Loki, who claims to be a Sun God, would want to bring about the world’s end, considering that Wano Country Arc portrays Nika as a symbol of liberation who brings joy and frees people from suffering. The Five Elders have previously encountered Nika in combat during the Void Century, positioning him as a savior of the world. However, there appears to be a difference in Elbaf.
In the story of One Piece, it’s not explicitly stated where the legend of Nika originates, but it appears to be rooted in a religious text known as Harley, which belongs to the Elbaphian Mythology. This text suggests that the world of One Piece has suffered two cataclysmic events, and each time, the name of the Sun God Nika was invoked during these conflicts. Essentially, it implies that Nika played an active role in the devastations that led to the destruction of the world on two separate occasions.
According to Harley, our world has been destroyed twice already. — Jarul
Because the Harley, being quite antiquated and having numerous interpretations, its true meaning remains elusive to most. However, some scholars now posit that Nika is a deity of Emancipation, while others argue he’s a deity of Cataclysm. What is undeniable, though, is that when the world teeters on the brink of chaos, Nika makes his presence known, which explains why those in power dread his emergence. This sheds light on the paradoxical nature of the Sun God Nika and also lends credence to Loki’s desire to become Nika and destroy the world, contrasted by Luffy being the Sun God and freeing the world. Yet, Luffy embodying Nika does not negate the possibility that Loki could be Nika too, despite how absurd that might seem.
Does Loki Have A God Of Destruction Devil Fruit?
Loki’s Legendary Devil Fruit Could Make Him Nika
As an observer, I’ve noticed that Loki, a formidable figure, carries an aura of immense power, a trait that some fans associate with Nika. However, they’ve made it clear that their understanding of Nika doesn’t align with Loki. Instead, they firmly believe that Luffy embodies the Sun God Nika. This belief is backed by the Elders, Imu, Zunesha, Momonosuke, and numerous others who have confirmed it. Yet, there seems to be a consensus among fans that Luffy might not be the only one to bear the title of Nika.
Considering the origin of Devil Fruits, it seems plausible that there being two Nikas plays a significant role, as it reflects the dual nature of the God. Vegapunk posited that Devil Fruits represent an alternative evolutionary route, born out of people’s desires. Essentially, all Devil Fruits are manifestations of someone wanting something to become tangible. For example, the belief in the Sun God Nika led to the creation of Nikas, as people hoped for his liberation. Similarly, the desire to embody fire is the root of the power behind the Mera Mera no Mi.

It’s intriguing to consider that if there’s only one individual named Nika, but multiple interpretations of his character exist, it wouldn’t be surprising for two distinct versions of him to emerge. One group might yearn for a Nika who embodies liberation, which could have inspired the power that Luffy possesses. On the other hand, others may have desired a Nika as the God of Destruction, leading to the legendary Nika Fruit that Loki now holds. This artifact is said to be ancient and has been passed down through generations in Elbaf for centuries. The idea of two Nikas existing, each with a unique role, is plausible and could potentially be validated in the story in the near future.
