Metaphor: ReFantazio Fans in Other Countries Have Entirely Different Character Preferences

The recently distributed popularity chart doesn’t cover the entire world. Interestingly, a survey conducted by Atlus SEA indicates that fans of Metaphor: ReFantazio outside Japan have distinct character preferences. Instead of favoring the same characters as their Japanese counterparts, Southeast Asian players have chosen Hulkenberg as their favorite, positioning her six places higher on their list. Heismay takes second place in Atlus SEA’s survey, despite not making it into the top five in Japan. Strohl rounds out the top three. Despite both polls being organized by regional Atlus divisions, they weren’t confined to specific geographical areas, creating a possibility for potential manipulation to impact the results.

In my gaming experience, the difference between the two outcomes clearly shows just how rich and varied the characters in this game are. Just like in the 3D Persona series, it seems Atlus aimed to populate ReFantazio with as many captivating personalities as they could find, hoping to inspire us gamers to fully develop our relationships with these characters – or ‘Bonds’, as they’re called in this fresh title.
