Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Receives Major Update for January 2025

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that the latest update for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has been released! This exciting update brings a fresh limited-time game mode, refinements to combat, battle enhancements, balance adjustments, and much more. Right now, all players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox can jump in and enjoy these new features.

On October 11, 2024, the release of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero by Japanese studio Spike Chunsoft was an immediate success, selling over three million copies on its debut day. This strong start propelled the Bandai Namco-published fighting game, a sequel to 2007’s Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, to become the highest-selling Dragon Ball game in the US over time. However, since its launch, Sparking Zero has faced criticism in significant areas, particularly in terms of balance, which significantly impacts the multiplayer aspect of the game. The latest update for the game addresses these issues, as well as a few other modifications.

In its latest update, the game Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero introduces a temporary new mode called Legendary Warrior Face-Off, allowing players to engage in challenging battles against an exceptionally potent character. Additionally, numerous adjustments have been made across various game modes. For example, the Custom Battle mode now offers expanded choices for effects, scenarios, and dialogue. Meanwhile, those responsible for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero‘s quitting issue will experience a delay before their online matches, as Quick Match mode has been fine-tuned to expedite matchmaking in the recent patch. Furthermore, during character selection in Battle Setup, players now receive a quick rundown of controls. In Training mode, a new “Guarding After Attacks” option has been included for CPU battles. Lastly, within Episode Battle, players can now modify difficulty settings irrespective of whether they are employing a Dragon Orb or not.

Additionally, numerous adjustments aimed at balancing the combat system in “Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero” have been made. For instance, moves like High-Speed Evasion, Perception, Super Perception, and Super Counter are now more difficult to perform. Conversely, Rush Attack, Grand Slash, and Chase Change have received enhancements to make them more effective for users. Furthermore, Wild Sense has been weakened, whereas the use of Overall Automatic Avoidance Skills has become challenging. Lastly, the consumption of Skill Points for certain skills such as Kaioken and Ta-dah has been reduced.

Despite an initial successful debut for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, its player numbers have been steadily dropping due to various reasons such as in-game glitches and balance problems. However, updates like this one are designed to address these issues and enhance gameplay. Following the recent adjustments, players eagerly anticipate the launch of Sparking Zero’s first DLC on January 23.
