Summary
- Iron Banner in Destiny 2 offers exclusive loot but faces criticism for its limited availability.
- The Chill Clip perk on Tinasha’s Mastery is powerful in PvE scenarios and sought after by players.
- Bungie should allow players to access rank-up rewards at all times to address missed opportunities.
In Destiny 2, farming Iron Banner offers numerous benefits when it comes to loot acquisition. However, its temporary availability during each Episode gives it a strong sense of urgency or fear of missing out (FOMO). This means players feel compelled to participate in some matches to avoid missing the exclusive rewards. This FOMO aspect is prevalent across many Destiny 2 systems, but Iron Banner can make it more noticeable due to its reputation as a Player versus Player (PvP) mode with mixed opinions.
For instance, in the recent expansion called Revenant, Iron Banner introduced a highly desirable weapon that boasts an excellent archetype and exceptional rolls. However, obtaining this weapon has been made quite challenging. Lately, this difficulty has sparked a discussion about potential improvements Bungie could make to enhance the overall experience.
In Destiny 2, it often happens that modes like Iron Banner or others introduce chase weapons over time, such as the Cataphract grenade launcher for Trials of Osiris and recently, Tinasha’s Master rocket sidearm in Iron Banner. The pursuit of Tinasha’s Mastery is still quite popular among players due to the popularity of rocket sidearms and the fact that this weapon can be upgraded with High-Explosive Ordnance, Air Trigger, and Chill Clip, making it a formidable tool in PvE. With the return of Iron Banners, Bungie has provided a good Chill Clip roll as a reward for advancing Lord Saladin’s reputation track, leaving many players scrambling to catch up.
Why Destiny 2’s Tinasha’s Mastery Sparked a Debate About Iron Banner
In Player versus Environment (PvE) scenarios, Destiny 2’s Chill Clip perk stands out due to its ability to chill any enemy upon initial impact and freeze them on subsequent hits based on the weapon type, rendering it exceptionally potent in numerous situations. These advantageous circumstances encompass:
- Empowering Stasis builds or Prismatic builds using Stasis, as Chill Clip uses two Stasis verbs
- Stunning Overload and Unstoppable Champions in Destiny 2 with ease regardless of a season’s selection of anti-Champion perks for the Artifact
- Control the battlefield even on non-synergistic builds thanks to the ability to chill and freeze with ease
In Destiny 2, the Tinasha’s Mastery stands out as one of the game’s top weapons right now due to its excellent performance on rocket sidearms. These weapons boast both high power and efficient ammo economy, making them a strong choice for many players. However, obtaining a desirable roll for Tinasha’s Mastery can be challenging.
Last week’s Iron Banner event introduced Tinasha’s Mastery to the reward track at rank 4, providing players with a free Chill Clip roll. The catch is that newly acquired rewards cannot be claimed if they were previously taken, so those who had already reached rank 4 in a past iteration of Iron Banner missed out on this opportunity.
Destiny 2 Should Allow Players to Get Rank-Up Rewards At All Times
Given that the Iron Banner’s pre-set Tinasha’s Mastery Chill Clip roll wasn’t exactly a top-tier or divine one, it’s possible that players could have secured better versions by decrypting Engrams instead. However, the issue lies in the fact that vendor rewards fluctuate over time, preventing us from reclaiming past ones or acquiring new ones. To address this, Bungie might consider allowing players to buy these high-quality rolls from their respective vendors or Banshee-44 at the Tower when they are updated, similar to how certain Destiny 2 divine rolls were given out for free following the perk weighting controversy.
It’s not a significant demand to enable players to acquire vendor rank-up rewards, especially since the rewards for these events can shift unexpectedly within a week, as demonstrated with Iron Banner. Offering this opportunity could be beneficial. If there must be a prerequisite, then it might involve players having achieved that specific rank at least once during that particular season or Episode in Destiny 2. While Episode 3 is introducing some positive adjustments, it’s still uncertain whether they will address the issue of vendor rank-up rewards, particularly for Iron Banner.
