Back in 2013, when the final episode of “Dexter” aired, fans, including myself, couldn’t bear the thought of saying goodbye to the intricate tale of Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C. Hall. Now, one of the two TV shows exploring the expansive “Dexter” universe has brought on board an actress that many of us adore.
It has been announced that Uma Thurman will play a main role in the upcoming series “Dexter: Resurrection”. Clyde Phillips is overseeing this project as the showrunner and executive producer. While the prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” was released in December 2024, viewers are eager to find out more about what “Dexter: Resurrection” will entail.
In the role of Charlie, the Security Chief, Uma Thurman works under Leon Prater, a prominent billionaire. Despite her long-standing reputation as an adored action and drama actress, she hasn’t been seen in many TV productions. Some of her most iconic performances include Dr. Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy in Batman & Robin (1997), Cécile de Volanges in Dangerous Liaisons (1988), Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction (1994), and perhaps her most recognized role, Beatrix Kiddo/The Bride in Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) and Volume 2 (2004). In terms of Thurman’s TV credits, she portrayed Ariana Huffington in Super Pumped (2022), Lenny Cohen across six episodes of Imposters (2017-2018), and Anouk Latham in the NBC miniseries The Slap (2015).
Despite Dexter meeting his end in the final episode of ‘Dexter: New Blood’, the Showtime revival from 2021, it seems that this ruthless killer has made a comeback in the latest series. Fans are intrigued to find out how the new installment will clarify Dexter’s fate. As reported by ‘Variety’, when Hall was questioned about Dexter’s demise being final at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024, he posed a question instead: “Is Dexter’s death truly irreversible?
“Was it? I don’t know what I am authorized to say other than, it’s really cold out there.”
In the revival of “Dexter: Resurrection,” some beloved cast members return, such as Jack Alcott portraying Harrison Morgan, James Remar as Harry Morgan, and David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista. Striking the right mix of new faces and established stars in a reboot is no easy feat, but it seems that “Dexter: Resurrection” has got it covered. It’s intriguing to speculate on how Thurman’s character will mesh with this ensemble of captivating characters who may not be what they appear. Given Dexter’s knack for secrets, it’s likely that Charley possesses just as many, making her a character worth watching. She appears to be intelligent and multi-layered.
Although many movie enthusiasts are still hoping for a third installment of “Kill Bill,” fans can instead look forward to Uma Thurman’s performance as Charley, which will be showcased when “Dexter: Resurrection” premieres on Paramount+ with Showtime in June 2025.
