The video clips offer a quick tour of certain places within the game. However, since these clips were released ahead of the Xbox developer’s conference, it is assumed they come from a demonstration version, possibly designed to highlight the newest graphic card technology.
According to people who’ve caught a sneak peek of DOOM at the Xbox Developer Direct, the detailed presentation will focus more on actual gameplay rather than providing maps as a general overview.
Yesterday, it was leaked that DOOM: The Dark Ages is set for a simultaneous release on May 15, 2025 across various platforms including Xbox Series S|X, PC, and PlayStation 5. Notably, this makes SOOM: The Dark Ages one of Microsoft’s first games to be designated as an exclusive on the PlayStation 5 at its launch.
Additionally, during the Xbox Developer Direct, Xbox is planning to give detailed insights into games such as South of Midnight and Expedition 33. Furthermore, they’ve hinted at the unveiling of a fourth, undisclosed title.
In the official description for DOOM: The Dark Ages, it states that you are a powerful and iconic figure known as the DOOM Slayer, a warrior who has made a name for himself by battling demons in a grim, eerie conflict set within an unprecedented medieval war against Hell.
The game’s storyline is established as a precursor to the 2016 DOOM release, which had already sold 2 million copies by July 2017. Notably, this game was published before Microsoft bought Bethesda Softworks, at which point it became available on multiple platforms.
