In the latest update for Deadlock, The Magnificent Sinclair has joined the roster of four freshly introduced heroes. Earlier, this character was exclusive to Hero Labs. Now, you have the opportunity to utilize this hero in regular competitive matches, allowing you to gauge its effectiveness against other players and understand how it fits into the current game meta.
As a fervent admirer, the initial move undeniably involves determining the optimal items and skill sequence for my hero. Given that he’s in his budding phase, there’ll inevitably be adjustments to his item composition as balance updates roll in. However, for those eager to jump into the arena with The Magnificent Sinclair and conquer their Deadlock games, here’s a comprehensive build guide to give it a spin.
Deadlock The Magnificent Sinclair Overview & Ability Details
Currently, there’s no other Deadlock hero quite like the exceptional Sinclair. His main attack unleashes a two-shot projectile dealing 27 damage per shot, albeit not the quickest in speed. However, the precision of his weapon more than compensates for this. As an assassin-style character, he excels in one-on-one encounters due to his impressive burst potential. His abilities scale highly with Spirit, making it optimal to invest in Spirit Power items when building him up.
Similar to Grey Talon, Sinclair’s movement speed increases with Spirit Power.
Here’s a quick breakdown of his abilities:
Ability Name | Effects | Upgrades |
---|---|---|
Vexing Bolt | Fire a bolt of magic that deals Spirit Damage and applies a Fire Rate Slow. If you have an Assistant, they also cast Vexing Bolt at Reduced Damage.
|
1 AP: -4s Cooldown |
2 AP: -10% Spirit Resist | ||
5 AP: +110 Damage. Assistant casts Vexing Bolt without reductions. | ||
Spectral Assistant | Summon an Assistant at the targeted location. The Assistant attacks whenever you fire your weapon, dealing Spirit Damage. While the Assistant is out, you can swap positions with it by pressing the ability button.
|
1 AP: -10s Cooldown |
2 AP: +5s Duration & 5m Range | ||
5 AP: +45% Fire Rate and +15 Assistant Damage | ||
Rabbit Hex | Hex a target, transforming them into a Rabbit for a limited duration. Rabbits are small and move faster, but take increased Bullet Damage and are unable to perform most actions.
|
1 AP: -10s Cooldown |
2 AP: +1s Duration | ||
5 AP: Hex all enemies within 6m | ||
Audience Participation | Copy the Ultimate of an enemy hero for a limited time. Reactivating the ability will use the Copied Ultimate instead.
|
1 AP: Upgrade the Copy |
2 AP: Upgrade the Copy AGAIN! | ||
5 AP: Upgrade the Copy ONCE AGAIN! |
The “Copied Ultimate” from audience participation doesn’t receive any advantages from imbued items. But, it does pass on the upgraded ability points.
Another way to say this could be: In regard to imbued items, the “Copied Ultimate” from audience participation doesn’t accrue any benefits. However, it does acquire the upgrade points of abilities.
The Magnificent Sinclair Build Guide (Ability Order & Item Progression) in Deadlock
Sinclair, the Magnificent, matches Infernus in duels but heavily depends on his ability cooldowns to secure a kill. Given that his abilities have significant cool-down periods, you’ll typically find yourself farming the map and advancing freely through a lane. Leverage his early game auto attack harassment to bully your opponent whenever possible.
It’s best if you play solo on a lane, but Sinclair can also excel in duo lanes. Although his Ultimate stands out, our strategy will primarily revolve around leveraging his Vexing Bolt and Rabbit Hex abilities, as these are what make him incredibly powerful in terms of burst damage.
Here’s how the build works:
The Magnificent Sinclair Ability Order
For the early game, prioritize unlocking Vexing Bolt as your initial ability. This power grants you a potent spell to complement your persistent auto-attack harassment. Additionally, it allows for efficient last hitting in lanes and quicker jungle traversal when necessary. Proceed by unlocking Spectral Assistant next, followed by Rabbit Hex, and finally collect enough Souls to unlock your Ultimate ability.
Here’s how you can follow the given instructions:
1. Immediately invest 1 AP (Action Point) into Vexing Bolt and another 1 AP into Spectral Assistant.
2. From now on, accumulate your Action Points to max out Vexing Bolt.
3. After maxing out Vexing Bolt, upgrade Rabbit Hex twice using your AP.
4. Once you’ve upgraded Rabbit Hex twice, proceed with upgrading Spectral Assistant to its maximum level.
5. Following the upgrade of Spectral Assistant, increase the level of Rabbit Hex one more time.
6. Finally, upgrade Audience Participation using your AP.
In summary:
– Invest 1 AP into Vexing Bolt and another 1 AP into Spectral Assistant immediately.
– Max out Vexing Bolt.
– Upgrade Rabbit Hex twice.
– Upgrade Spectral Assistant to its maximum level.
– Increase the level of Rabbit Hex one more time.
– Finally, upgrade Audience Participation.
In this project, we primarily intend to rely on Sinclair’s Ultimate as a backup option, so there’s no need to allocate any upgrade points to it initially.
The Magnificent Sinclair Item Progression
In Sinclair’s build strategy, focusing on Vexing Bolt and Rabbit Hex is quite simple. Primarily, you should gather Spirit Items to enhance your damage output. However, while doing so, don’t forget to equip weapons and vitality items that align with Sinclair’s aggressive gameplay in Deadlock.
Here are the items that are worth buying for The Magnificent Sinclair with this build:
Early Game:
- High-Velocity Mag
- Hollow Point Ward
- Enduring Spirit
- Extra Stamina
- Extra Charge
- Extra Spirit
- Infuser
- Extra Regen (Optional)
- Healing Rite (Optional)
Previously noted, Sinclair’s main attack projectile moves at an unusually sluggish pace. Consequently, it’s usually beneficial to select High-Velocity Mag as your initial purchase. Follow this with Hollow Point Ward for extra Spirit Power and a Weapon Damage bonus. This setup will significantly boost your strength in the game’s early phases.
As a devoted player, I can assure you that Perseverance Speed and Additional Endurance are about to become your new best friends, providing an extra boost when needed. These components, which you’ll assemble in the mid-to-late game, offer exceptional worth. Following this, you’ll want to secure Extra Charge, Extra Spirit, and Infuser items in your inventory next.
If your rival in the lane is causing you difficulty, think about selecting items like Extra Regeneration or Healing Rite. These will provide you with additional healing during the lane fight, which could be more beneficial than having to teleport back to base using a Zipline.
Mid Game:
- Soul Shredder Bullets
- Divine Barrier
- Enchanter’s Barrier
- Healbane
- Improved Cooldown
- Slowing Hex
- Mystic Burst
- Warp Stone
- Rapid Recharge
In the middle of the game, focus on enhancing your Spirit Power even more and boosting your survivability to triumph in one-on-one encounters. Begin by equipping Soul Shredder Bullets for their Spirit Amp and Spirit Lifesteal benefits. Then, choose three protective items that improve vitality: Divine Barrier, Enchanter’s Barrier, and Healbane, using them in that sequence.
Choose Improved Cooldown for your next step, as it allows you to use your spells more frequently. The Slowing Hex is a great choice on Sinclair because it reduces the speed of an enemy while they are transformed during Rabbit Hex. Next, use Mystic Burst and then Rapid Recharge, which will boost the power of Vexing Bolt. Lastly, acquire Warp Stone to surprise your enemies or escape from a fight when the situation becomes unfavorable.
Late Game:
- Spiritual Overflow
- Improved Burst
- Improved Spirit
- Superior Cooldown
- Ethereal Shift
- Pristine Emblem
- Boundless Spirit
- Echo Shard
- Escalating Exposure
- Decay (Situational)
- Withering Whip (Situational)
- Suppressor (Situational)
- Mystic Slow (Situational)
- Knockdown (Situational)
- Debuff Remover (Situational)
- Metal Skin (Situational)
- Restorative Locket (Situational)
In late gameplay, the Sinclair build really shines, enabling you to decimate enemies with a single, powerful combo. The foundation of this setup is Spiritual Overflow, which boosts your fire rate and spirit power, and significantly decreases the cool-down time for your abilities. Although it’s quite an investment, aim to progress towards it once you have gathered mid-game items in your inventory.
At this point in the game, prioritize using most of your Flex Slots to purchase additional Spirit Power items and enhance some of your existing ones. Aim to acquire Improved Burst, Improved Spirit, Superior Cooldown, and Ethereal Spirit as soon as you can following the acquisition of Spiritual Overflow.
Imbue Spectral Assistant with Superior Cooldown.
In the laning phase, enhance the High-Velocity Magazine you found into a Pristine Emblem and an Echo Shard. Should you find any additional slots available later on, opt for Boundless Spirit and Escalating Exposure as your subsequent upgrades.
In other words, consider purchasing the items specified earlier only when your strategy necessitates it. For instance, if the opposing team has many crowd-control skills, a Debuff Remover might aid in dealing with them effectively. When you’re struggling to capture an opponent, opt for a Knockdown item instead.
As a gamer, I must confess that mastering Sinclair isn’t a walk in the park, but let me tell you, once you’ve got the knack of it, the rewards are more than worth the effort! Now that you’re familiar with what items to construct and how to enhance his skills, you’ll find yourself more than prepared to give this hero a spin in your Deadlock battles.
