Unbelievable Brutality: The Most Shocking Deaths in Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2!

Netflix’s portrayal of the Castlevania series has never shied away from excessive violence, a departure perhaps from the original games that were more about atmosphere than bloodshed. However, the anime adaptation seems to have developed its own unique identity, which is one reason for its widespread appeal. Fans of season 1 of “Castlevania: Nocturne” can expect plenty of action and gore in season 2.

In the second season of “Castlevania: Nocturne,” we’ll delve into some of the most impactful deaths that occurred on either side. It’s advisable to watch all of season two before diving into this analysis, as there will be no holds barred and it may contain spoilers. Enjoy your binge-watching!

6. Annette’s Vampire Stalker

Here’s Needle In Your Eye

  • Episode Two

Following their encounter with Juste, Annette, and Richter, they return towards the city, only to face off against a formidable group of vampires. Although these creatures remain nameless, their power is undeniable. Yet, despite their strength, they prove no match for these two heroes. As the ensuing battle takes its toll, the hooded vampire who has been primarily engaging Annette, resembling a character straight out of a cyberpunk anime, suffers the most severe injuries.

A slender, silvery staff is hurled into his eye; it’s not something anyone would wish for, even if the point were as large as a tree trunk. It’s safe to say that Annette possesses quite the powerful throw, leaving no room for debate about her arm strength.

5. Drolta’s Assault On The French

Deaths Not In Vain

  • Episode 2

In the finale of season one, Alucard taking Drolta’s life was quite unexpected. However, her resurgence this season, courtesy of The Abbot’s device, was far more dramatic – she became stronger than ever in her loyalty towards Erzsebet Bathory. With her newfound ability to hunt during daylight, she rampaged through the Revolutionary Army’s camp in episode two, leaving soldiers in shambles as if they were mere pieces of paper.

In a gruesome turn of events, one character violently severed another’s head, leaving only the teeth and everything below intact. Another distressing scene involved a female captain who was strangled to death, causing some of her internal organs to protrude. Fortunately, the camera swiftly moved away before viewers witnessed any further disturbing details.

4. Louis The 16th (Louis The Last)

Viva La Revolution!

  • Episode Three

In episode three, the conclusion seems rather unexpected. The setting of Castlevania: Nocturne is during the French Revolution, where King Louis XVI, famously known as Louis The Last, meets his end by guillotine execution. This event occurs in similar fashion within Castlevania: Nocturne, without much dramatic response from him. It’s a gruesome fate for any king, but at least the execution was swift and clean in the anime version.

The concept of execution in publishing might still be a daunting thought for some, despite the fact that guillotines are no longer common. What makes this ending particularly chilling is when Louis the 16th’s ghost is led to the afterlife, an event only Annette can witness, causing goosebumps on her spine.

3. The Abbot (Emanuel)

Death By Dragon

  • Episode 4

One particularly chilling death in the anime series “Castlevania: Nocturne” belongs to Emanuel, the Abbot of the city. Towards the end of season one, it’s disclosed that Emanuel and Tera had a secret child named Maria. In season two, both Maria and Emanuel are grappling with this hidden truth, and Maria is deeply troubled by it. Additionally, Emanuel’s actions, such as creating monsters and sacrificing Maria’s mother to Erzsebet, make for a very tragic turn of events.

By the end of the fourth episode, Maria, fed up, chose a dark path and conjured a dragon to incinerate Emanuel brutally, turning him into an ashen corpse. A sinister figure then hauled him off to the underworld, where things could hardly get worse for poor Emanuel.

2. Erzsebet Bathory

Betrayed By Her Servant

  • Episode Seven

In the second season, did it appear that the main antagonist, Erzsebet, would perish? This was likely the question on many viewers’ minds before the new season began, and the outcome remained uncertain until Drolta swooped in to save her. However, a surprising turn of events unfolded as Drolta did not rescue Erzsebet in the traditional sense; instead, she carried her aloft to drain her of her divine power: Sekhmet.

Drolta feels disheartened that Erzsebet lost the battle in episode seven, considering all the effort she had invested in strengthening Erzsebet. Feeling let down, she decided to step up and assume the role of Sekhmet. In a dramatic turn of events, Erzsebt was drained of life by her former servant, falling from a great height onto the icy street below like a lifeless bag of potatoes.

1. Drolta

Ice To See You

  • Episode Eight

In the subsequent episode, Drolta’s treachery is met with quick retaliation. Despite Richter and his team being severely weakened, they rally to complete their mission. Richter, drawing upon all his ice powers, unleashes icy punches against Drolta, causing her skin to fracture. Lastly, Alucard hurls his cherished floating sword to assist Richter in the climactic battle.

In the chilling grasp of winter, I find myself mirroring Richter’s icy demeanor as he wields his frostbitten blade, cleaving Drolta cleanly in two, reminiscent of Trunks’ heroic bisecting of Frieza in the captivating world of Dragon Ball Z. The force of this strike in Castlevania: Nocturne was such that it shattered a portion of the building behind Drolta. Even the ancient, powerful dhampir, Alucard, stands in awe of Richter’s prowess – a testament to his unmatched skill and determination.
