Becoming a Demon Slayer isn’t an easy feat for everyone; the journey is arduous and demanding. That’s why there’s the Final Selection process – only those who make it through this rigorous test get chosen to be Demon Slayers. Unfortunately, not everyone is fortunate enough to pass.
Inexperienced Demon Slayers must endure seven restless nights amidst the mountains, with demons lurking unseen. Though these demons may not be overpoweringly strong, they still carry a dangerous threat to the slayers’ wellbeing. With determination, power, and their training, the slayers will strive to make it through each night alive.
What Is The Selection Process, And How Does it Work?
Only The Brave Can Survive The Intense Selection process
Training for Demon Slayers happens at Mount Fujikasane, a place adorned with wisteria blossoms. This mountain is unique because it’s infested with demons who were taken alive and confined there. Since the mountain’s exits are overgrown with poisonous wisteria flowers, these demons cannot escape, doomed to live out their days either hunting or being hunted by Demon Slayers. The captured demons are relatively weak and haven’t claimed many human lives, making them ideal for training purposes for the Demon Slayers.
Embarking on a thrilling adventure, I find myself standing atop a sacred mountain shrine, ready to embark on the demanding journey to join the esteemed Demon Slayer Corps. The enigmatic Ubuyashiki siblings, Kiriya and Kanata, elucidate the intricate rules of this selection process, doubling as both instructors and organizers for our trial. As I prepare to face the chilling nights ahead, I must rely solely on my cunning and resourcefulness, without any external assistance. Surviving a full week atop this mountain grants me the coveted opportunity to become an official Demon Slayer, standing tall in the ranks of those who protect our world from the sinister forces that lurk in the shadows.
We’re pleased to see that you’re safe.
Those Who Emerge Victorious Are Rewarded
The Survivors Are Welcome As Official Demon Slayers
After completing a week-long test, the exam concludes in the early hours of the morning. Those who have made it through the ordeal of the seven mountain nights must reunite at the shrine upon the peak, where they’re officially inducted into the Demon Slayer Corps. Upon joining, they receive numerous perks such as a personal uniform, a nichirin blade, and a Kasugai crow for communication with fellow corps members. Typically, twenty individuals begin this selection process, but only some manage to endure the seven mountain nights.
Among the primary reasons many applicants fail during their stay is that not only weaker demons, but also a formidable demon lurks on the mountain peak. Known as the Hand Demon, this creature has claimed over fifty lives of novice Demon Slayers, including students under the tutelage of the late Water Hashira – Sakonji Urokodaki. It was this demon that allowed Giyu Tomioka to escape, as his comrade Sabito selflessly gave up his life to ensure Giyu and a few other trainees could flee safely. The reason the Hand Demon continued to prowl freely until it was finally defeated by Tanjiro remains unclear. Some speculate that the Hand Demon presented a greater challenge than lesser demons, which may explain why it persisted on the mountain top until it was vanquished. Enduring the selection process is no small task; it demands courage and determination from those who wish to persevere through seven nights on the mountain, battling for their lives in the hopes of joining the fight against Muzan. Although the final selection process may be debatable, the lessons and achievements gained throughout are invaluable, as trainees graduate from their apprenticeships.
